Activity 2

Public health emergency response ("pher") and preparedness ("phep") grants:public health solutions continues to receive the phep grant directly and to administer it on behalf of and at the direction of nycdohmh. The phep grant provides funds for states and directly funded cities to prepare for and respond to emerging public health threats, including acts of bioterrorism, and supports regional readiness initiatives. Cdc provided a no-cost extension for the final year of the last funding cycle, and phs now has until 8/9/13 to spend down the $20 million grant (see schedule o).

Activity 3

Mic women's health services ("mic"):in 2011, mic made a difficult financial and operational decision to cease operations of several health centers. Two of these centers, jamaica and tremont, were successfully transferred to the community healthcare network ("chn"), a federally qualified health center ("fqhc"), and one center, astoria, was closed, and all patients referred to a nearby chn center. All new york state article 28 requirements for closure and transfer were accomplished with all mic patients being informed in an appropriate and timely way, such that no patient would be unable to received needed services.
