Activity 2

Foster care and residential services - to provide temporary or permanent shelter for children and other family members in need of supervision as defined by the state social service law.good shepherd services' work in new york city began in 1857 with caring for young people who could not live at home. We continue this work today, serving 2,231 participants through group homes for adolescents; supportive transitional housing programs; non-secure detention and placement facilities for justice-involved youth; and family foster care and adoption. We provide a supportive environment, surrounding each young person with positive relationships and comprehensive services to address their physical, emotional and educational needs. We seek to bring families back together whenever possible, and when family is not an option, we locate adoptive homes or other caring living arrangements for these young people.

Activity 3

Training services - to provide training to human services social workers and social service agencies.the human services workshops provides training for social service providers throughout the city. Each year approximately 900 individuals from over 100 agencies participate in day-long, low-cost workshops led by experienced teachers. The workshops focus on the stresses and strategies of caring for children and families in crisis and are designed to lead to growth in personal and professional skills.
