Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The robert toigo foundation fosters the career advancement and increased financial leadership presence of underrepresented talent in business by creating mechanisms for accessing high potential mbas with skill and ambition to become next generation financial leaders in business.the gateway to this experience is the foundation's mba fellowship which is a highly selective process of identifying individuals at the start of their mba studies who possess a passion for making an impact in their careers and in their communities and who demonstrate the highest standards of ethical leadership and leadership potential. The foundation's programming is aligned through the course of fellow's academic and post-graduate career. Further, our work promotes the merits of diversity and inclusion to one of the nation's most vital industries the field of finance and to allied industries where the skills of finance can be leveraged and where the vision of creating a more inclusive workplace remains.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Education:while operating within a more conservative 2012 budget, the foundation preserved its core investment of more than $750,000 in services, which directly support the education and career pursuits of the 166 students awarded the toigo fellowship. In a period of conservative job growth in finance, the foundation directed its attention to three direct program areas: pre-mba finance career promotion and recruitment activities, student programming for its current mba population, and leadership development and career management services. The foundation awarded merit-based fellowships and internship stipends as well as professional development scholarships for students pursuing professional certifications/designations important to strengthen their career profile within this intense period of employment opportunity. Active early-stage promotion and recruitment efforts aimed at demystifying the prospects for careers in finance, against a changing financial landscape, influenced the foundation's recruiting strategies to include hosting events offering high-touch educational programming, such as our newly branded mba catapult program. This event drew more than 140 mba program applicants, who were exposed a variety of industry education topics. The foundation launched a more dynamic social media campaign, complemented by on-campus presentations and collaborative marketing with similar mission-driven organizations to bring together the most high caliber pre-mba population for industry introduction and assessment. Vibrant career services, offered to all students bridging talent with employment opportunities, were equally important. The foundation provided leadership development curricula and career treks building upon its long-standing industry network and understanding of the evolving skills required for the future success. Of utmost importance to the foundation's programming is the assurance that participants are, through their interactions, strengthening bonds among this vibrant multicultural network and promoting the brand of the toigo organization across academic institutions nationwide as they begin their careers as summer interns or as full-time professionals.
Activity 3
Career and talent management services:the foundation investment in the talent it serves includes a dynamic career and talent management offering, which begins at the mba level and continues through their post-graduate career. Our high touch engagement on an individual basis presents an unmatched proprietary knowledge of participants across their career spectrums and invaluable insights to prospective employers seeking the best talent possible. The foundation sponsored the attendance of its mba students at several events hosted by supporters and business associations enhancing the students' knowledge and access to top financial institutions and leaders. Others costs associated with career management services include the allocation of human resources to this effort and enhancement of the technology tools that allow for efficient job posting and analytics on applicant and employment activity.

IRS990/Activity2/Description0EDUCATION:WHILE OPERATING WITHIN A MORE CONSERVATIVE 2012 BUDGET, THE FOUNDATION PRESERVED ITS CORE INVESTMENT OF MORE THAN $750,000 IN SERVICES, WHICH DIRECTLY SUPPORT THE EDUCATION AND CAREER PURSUITS OF THE 166 STUDENTS AWARDED THE TOIGO FELLOWSHIP.
