Activity 2

Climate & energy funders group - cefg was able to play a crucial role in sharing information, connecting funders, and helping to expand the resources and funders in the field of climate change philanthropy. We focused growth in the areas of improved online connectivity, information sharing, and networking among climate and energy funders; enhanced ability to support two active funder work groups; and increased global connectivity and learning. Additionally, in 2011 cefg took the following steps to increase our capacity: hired a full-time staff person to facilitate and grow our focused work groups on the southeast region and on utility-level efficiency policies and programs; managed and grew a new interactive tool, the strategy landscape, to help funders better understand the funding landscape of climate change philanthropy; facilitated a series of activities that allowed funders to learn, debate, share, and discuss the "ways forward" for climate and energy given the tremendous changes over the last year; and began the initial stages of a dialogue with our members on an interim goal to guide our work over the next several years.

Activity 3

Gulf of california program - in 2011, goc staff began working with funders to explore the development of an integrated conservation strategy for the sinaloa-nayarit area of the gulf of california, with a focus on the large important coastal wetland "marismas nacionales." goc staff worked with foundation staff to implement a special sustainable seafood markets workshop in los cabos, together with the relevant ngos working in the goc region and other fisheries experts. Goc staff participated in meetings including the loreto science symposium, and hosted the program's first formal annual meeting of funders, which took place in november in san francisco. Another major product of the program in 2011 was the creation of the first cgbd "micro-site" to tell success stories of conservation work in the gulf of california region.
