Pact enables systemic solutions that allow those who are poor and marginalized to earn a dignified living, be healthy, and take part in the benefits that nature provides. (continued in schedule o)

Major Activities

Activity 2
Pact yekokeb berhan program for highly vulnerable children (p3202)during the year, yekokeb berhan program made the transition from start-up to full implementation. Some of the major accomplishments during the year include the following: -the program enrolled 465,365 children following assessment of their unique needs and developed care plans for each child. Subsequently, 386,319 highly vulnerable children (hvc) received a minimum of one care service during this reporting period.-pact established effective working relationships with key government stakeholders at all levels in all regions which facilitated coordinated, effective and efficient activity implementation -at least 15 training manuals, technical guidelines, policies, checklists and assessment tools were developed and are being used to support implementation of activities and delivery of services.-key trainings such as child support index, journey of life, parenting skills, economic strengthening, grants and finance and monitoring, evaluation, research and learning were provided to 50 yekokeb berhan staff (include pact, childfund and fhi staff), over 500 implementing partner staff and 122 government officers. These trainings were further rolled out to 9,961 community committee members, 13,097 caregivers and 48,186 volunteers.-developed hvc database and conducted orientation and technical support to all partners to enhance its use for data management and reporting. -conducted organizational capacity assessments for 11 regional and selected zonal and woreda structures. Pact also conducted technical and organizational capacity assessments for 37 implementing partners to identify capacity gaps and used results to develop specific capacity development plans and intervention. -provided technical and administrative support to 37 partners through site monitoring visits and coaching. Over 80 grants and financial as well as 67 programmatic monitoring visits were made to implementing partners to support implementation and service delivery to hvc and their families, in addition, eight field monitoring visits that included pact staff participation, were made to selected sites. -an annual performance assessment was conducted for all 37 original implementing partners using tested instruments to determine the performance of each partner against a set of indicators. Through this process, pact, in collaboration with usaid, determined which should be approved to continue into the next year. -ten quarterly partner review meetings were held in the five cluster regions, which promoted closer consultation with partners and regional government offices, experience sharing and feedback.
Activity 3
Rights programs in zimbabwethe political environment in zimbabwe is volatile. Implementing partners continue to operate in an environment of harassment and intimidation. This year saw pact enhancing the capacity of 42 organizations through providing grants and technical assistance in grants management, financial management, program management, and monitoring and evaluation. The partners undertook public meetings, public hearings, and workshops on human rights, voter education, service delivery, constitution making and legislative reforms in all provinces of the country. A total of 44,224 participated in civic education programs. Another 39,297 received voter education as the nation prepares for anticipated elections. Civil society organizations (csos) working with victims of politically motivated human rights violations assisted a total of 497 individuals with accommodation, legal representation and relocation to safe places. On the other hand a total of 723 cases of human rights violations were documented in masvingo and manicaland provinces only. Partners facilitated a total of 26 public forums and meetings that provided a platform for legislators and members of the public to interact on such issues as service delivery, legislative reforms and the constitution making process. Csos also contributed to different processes on the current democratic transition processes such as the human rights commission bill and the electoral amendment bill. Partners distributed 226,112 copies of informational and communication materials in the communities to raise community awareness on issues affecting them, the status of political processes taking place in the country, including the constitution making process, the referendum and the anticipated elections. Lastly, csos like idazim, ngo forum, crisis in zimbabwe coalition, zimrights, zimsa and videre participated in a number of regional and international platforms, bringing the human rights situation in zimbabwe to the attention of the international and regional community.

SIXTY-TWO NURSES RECEIVED TRAINING ON "NURSE INITIATED MANAGEMENT OF ART - NIMART"-HIV AND TB CARE AND SUPPORT: PARTNERS UNDER THIS PROGRAM REACHED 96,667 INFECTED INDIVIDUALS WITH COMMUNITY-BASED CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES. AN ADDITIONAL 68,665 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED FACILITY-BASED CARE. -ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN: PARTNERS UNDER THIS PROGRAM REACHED 267,990 CHILDREN WITH CHILD PROTECTION, EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT, AND/OR PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES.
