Pact enables systemic solutions that allow those who are poor and marginalized to earn a dignified living, be healthy, and take part in the benefits that nature provides. (continued in schedule o)

Major Activities

Activity 2
Response to hiv aids for ovcas a participant in the global fund round 4 ovc program, pact has supported comprehensive mvc care and protection programs in 44 districts in tanzania during the term of the project. As of june 2011, at the close of the program, almost 300,000 children identified as most vulnerable have benefited from interventions delivered by the pact partners. The program has provided a wide range of services and support to the children and their families in the areas of health and immunization, education, psychosocial support, shelter, and food/nutrition. 294,481 ovc received accessible health support and were fully immunized, out of a target of 300,000, for an achievement rate of 98%. Against a target of 159,000 ovc enrolled in schools and receiving educational support, 147,191 have been enrolled, for an achievement rate of 93%. Toward a target of 35,000 ovc receiving sufficient daily requirements of food, 36,926 have done so, an achievement rate of 106%. 24,300 of a target of 30,000 ovc received psychosocial services support, an 81% achievement rate. Under this project, 2,442 providers were trained in psychosocial support, out of a target of 3,403, for a rate of 72% achieved. Out of a goal of 80,000 ovc to receive shelter support, 86,907 ovc were provided with such support, for a rate of 109%. Finally, out of a target of 462 civil society institutions strengthened, 396 institutions have been worked with, for an achievement rate of 86%.
Activity 3
Rights program (democracy & governance project) the objectives of the rights program included the following: - expanding cso participation and strengthening its capacity to build consensus, exert influence and resolve problems. - strengthening support for human rights and democratic reforms and fostering state compliance with international human rights principles.- encouraging and facilitating organization of communities in support of constitutional reform and elections.- supporting the creation of free, independent and vigorous media communication.- facilitating regional and international networking and advocacy.pact provided support to 29 grantees during the period under review. The following were the activities undertaken by partners under these grants: capacity building for consensus building; human rights abuses documentation and legal aid; constitutional issues and monitoring; provision of technical support to parliament and the committees; provision of support to external oversight of public resource use; support to political participation and support to freedom of expression.the following key achievements were recorded:- a total of 31,702 people were reached during civic education that included public meetings, public hearings, and workshops on human rights. - csos working with victims of politically motivated human rights violations assisted a total of 850 individuals with accommodation, legal representation, memorial services and healing. Related to this, a total of 1,727 cases of human rights violations were documented in masvingo and manicaland provinces only. - a total of 124 legislators were trained in legislative analysis. Csos also facilitated a total of 19 public forums at which legislators and members of the public interacted on such issues as service delivery, legislative reforms, media reforms, and the constitution making process.- pact supported partners activities, which included, among others, the distribution of informational and communication materials in the communities. This these materials assisted in raising the awareness of communities on issues affecting them, what the status is of political processes taking place in the country, including the constitution making process, the referendum and the anticipated elections likely to be held early 2012. - csos like idazim, ngo forum, crisis in zimbabwe coalition, zimsa and videre participated in a number of regional and international platforms, bringing the human rights situation in zimbabwe to the attention of the international and regional community and advocating for needed reform.

IN FY 2011, PACT PROVIDED PEPFAR FUNDING AND ASSISTANCE TO 17 PARTNERS AND 56 SUB-PARTNERS IN SOUTH AFRICA PLAYING VALUABLE ROLES IN THE FIGHT AGAINST HIV AND AIDS, INCLUDING NON-GOVERNMENTAL, PRIVATE VOLUNTARY AND FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS. PACT'S MAJOR EMPHASIS IS THE ENHANCEMENT OF LOCAL PARTNER CAPACITY THROUGH THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF DOCUMENTED ORGANIZATIONAL SYSTEMS AND PROCEDURES AND HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT AT MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONAL LEVELS. TO THIS END, PACT DELIVERED 23 TRAININGS TO PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS, WITH 450 TOTAL PARTICIPANTS, ON TOPICS INCLUDING BASIC MANAGEMENT SKILLS, NPO ACCOUNTABILITY, ORGANIZATION CAPACITY TRAINING, CARE WORKERS MANAGEMENT TRAINING, GRANTS MANAGEMENT, PROPOSAL WRITING, VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT AND POLICY DEVELOPMENT, PROGRAM DESIGN AND PLANNING, AND FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT. PROVIDED A REFRESHER COURSE ON ARV MANAGEMENT TO 173 INDIVIDUALS.- HIV PREVENTION: PARTNERS UNDER THIS PROGRAM REACHED 10,833 INDIVIDUALS WITH HIV-PREVENTION-FOCUSED COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMS.- HIV AND TB CARE AND SUPPORT: PARTNERS UNDER THIS PROGRAM REACHED 113,057 INFECTED INDIVIDUALS WITH COMMUNITY-BASED CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES. ACCREDITED IN-SERVICE TRAINING ON "INTEGRATED MODEL: CARE" WAS PROVIDED TO 34 INDIVIDUALS; ON "DIDACTIC CLINICAL TRAINING" TO 718 INDIVIDUALS. TRAINING ON PALLIATIVE CARE WAS PROVIDED TO 340 CARE WORKERS. - ORPHANS AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN: PARTNERS UNDER THIS PROGRAM REACHED 278,750 CHILDREN WITH CHILD PROTECTION, EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT, AND/OR PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES. TRAINING IN VARIOUS UNITS OF THE CHILD AND YOUTH CARE WORKER CURRICULUM WAS PROVIDED TO 735 INDIVIDUALS, AND TRAINING IN COUNSELING WAS PROVIDED TO 124 INDIVIDUALS. - COUNSELING AND TESTING: PARTNERS UNDER THIS PROGRAM TESTED AND PROVIDED TEST RESULTS AND COUNSELING TO 184,547 INDIVIDUALS. TRAINING ON HIV TESTING AND OTHER RELATED MODULES WAS PROVIDED TO 74 INDIVIDUALS.- PREVENTION OF MOTHER TO CHILD TRANSMISSION (PMTCT): PARTNERS UNDER THIS PROGRAM PROVIDED COUNSELING AND TESTING, AS WELL AS TEST RESULTS, TO 275,207 PREGNANT WOMEN AND PROVIDED A FULL COURSE OF ART TO 78,005 WOMEN. 307 INDIVIDUALS WERE TRAINED IN PMTCT, AND 193 SITE COORDINATORS AND MENTOR MOTHERS WERE TRAINED.
