“The organization updated the by-laws to reflect the merger with biashelp, inc.”
“All board members are given an opportunity to review the 990 and ask questions prior to the official board meeting. During the board meeting, the 990 is distributed to all board members and reviewed by the auditor present at the meeting. Once the auditor has completed the presentation and review of the financial statements and the 990, members are given an opportunity to ask questions, etc. Once the process is complete, a vote is called.”
“A written conflict of interest policy is reviewed and signed off by all members of the board of directors, as well as management and key staff. The policy is reviewed each year at the annual meeting. Board meetings are scheduled one year in advance, and the dates and topics are on the schedule. Board members are reminded at the board meeting before the actual presentation to ensure attendance.”
“Lincs has a yearly contract with the ceo/managing director, or other board member, to oversee all of the organizations' responsibility as the third party administrator for self-insured health and medical benefits plan, pension plan, insurance policies and the oversight of a 30,000 square foot building. The organization owns and has long term leases with three other not for profits. Compensation is conducted by the executive committee of the board of directors and data is gathered from comparative data from other not-for-profits as well as data from outside consultants: prm consulting and verisight consulting. The length of employment as well as education and experience are taken into consideration by the executive committee when approving a final amount. The ceo is not present during this meeting and does not vote on her compensation.”
“The organization makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy and financial statements available to the public upon request for the same period of disclosure as set forth in section 6104(d).”
“Compensation paid to dr. Barouh, and reported in part vii, is paid from long island network of community services, inc. Only in her role as ceo/managing director of the organization.”
“Transfer of net assets from biashelp 470,948.”
“The process for overseeing the audit of the financial statements and selection of an independent accountant that audited the financial statements has been consistent with prior years.”
“Lincs is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and from state income taxes. In addition, lincs is not classified as a private foundation. Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require management to evaluate tax positions taken and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the organization has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken and has concluded that as of december 31, 2015, there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the consolidated financial statements. Lincs is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. Lincs has not incurred any unrelated business income.”
“Biashelp, inc. Revenue included in consolidated financial statements 156,673. Fundraising expenses netted against fundraising revenue 11,811. Rental expenses netted against rental income 160,059.”
“Fundraising expenses netted against fundraising revenue 11,811. Rental expenses netted against rental income 160,059. Biashelp, inc. Expenses included in consolidated financial statements 169,168.”
