Mission

Biashelp, inc. Is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agency dedicated to the prevention of bias crimes, hate-related harassment, bullying, cyberbullying and discrimination. Located on long island, biashelp provides programs and services locally, regionally and nationally. Biashelp considers an action to be discriminatory when a person or group is targeted, in whole or in part, because of their perceived differences, including race, color, national origin, ancestry, gender, religion, age, disability or sexual orientation.biashelp's programs include prevention education, community and school-based technical assistance, support of aggressive public policies that ensure human rights protections and effective media responses to current social issues.

The sole member of the corporation is long island network of community services, inc., a not-for-profit organization. This sole member has the right to appoint or remove directors of the corporation.

The sole member, through its board of directors, shall appoint or remove directors of the corporation.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11

All board members are given an opportunity to review the 990 and ask questions prior to the official board meeting. During the board meeting the, 990 is distributed to all board members and reviewed by the auditor present at the meeting. Once the auditor has completed the presentation and review of the financial statements and 990, members are given an opportunity to ask questions, etc. Once the process is complete, a vote is called.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

A written conflict of interest policy is reviewed and signed off by all members of the board of directors, as well as management and key staff. The policy is reviewed each year at the annual meeting. Board meetings are scheduled one year in advance, and the dates and topics are on the schedule, including conflicts of interest. Board members are reminded at the board meeting before the actual presentation to ensure attendance.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Biashelp, inc. Has a yearly contract with the executive managing director to oversee the organization's responsibility as the third party administrator. Compensation review is conducted by the executive committee of the board of directors and data was gathered from comparative data from other not for profits as well as from prm consulting and verisight consulting. The qualifications and experience to fulfill the unique requirements of this role are taken into account when approving the final amount. This process is done on an annual basis and the executive managing director is not present during this meeting and does not vote on his compensation. Biashelp has 1.83 fte staff, including a part-time controller and part-time chief of staff. The staff are overseen and supervised by the executive managing director.

PART X, LINE 2:

Biashelp was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation under the laws of the state of new york and is exempt from income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. In addition, biashelp is not classified as a not-for-profit foundation. Management has evaluated biashelp's tax positions for all open tax years and has concluded that biashelp had taken no uncertain tax positions that require recognition or disclosure in the accompanying financial statements. Generally, biashelp is no longer subject to income tax examinations by u.s. Federal, state or local tax authorities for years before 2011, which is the standard statute of limitations look-back period.
