In addition to engaging the Independent Certfied Public Accountant to perform the audit and assist with the preparation of the annual informational tax returns the Board of Directors engages an Internal Certified Public Accountant with the requisite Skills / Knowledge and Experience to oversee the auditor, the preparation of the ALIS financial statements, note disclosures, supplemental schedules and the annual IRS 990 tax return. The internal CPA reviews and approves all the reports prepared prior to the Board's final review and approval.”
“The Automated Library Information System of Nassau County, Inc. is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). It is the Organization's position that all support and revenues are substantially related to its exempt purpose, the Organization has taken the position that it is not required to pay any federal or state income tax. Accordingly, these financial statements show no income tax expense or provision for income taxes. The Organization has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under Section 509(a) of the IRC. Contributions to the organization qualify for charitable contribution deductions as stated in Section 170 of the IRC. It is the Organization's policy to provide for uncertain tax positions and any related interest or penalties based upon management's assessment of whether a tax benefit is more-likely-than-not is sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. Since the Organization considers itself exempt from any income taxes or reporting requirement, no provision for interest or penalties has been made in these financial statements. The Organization's tax filings are subject to audit by various taxing authorities. The Organization's open tax periods are 2012 to 2014. In evaluating the Organization's tax provisions, management believes their interpretation of current tax laws and non-taxable status is appropriate based upon current facts and circumstances.”

| IRS990ScheduleD/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | The Automated Library Information System of Nassau County, Inc. is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). It is the Organization's position that all support and revenues are substantially related to its exempt purpose, the Organization has taken the position that it is not required to pay any federal or state income tax. Accordingly, these financial statements show no income tax expense or provision for income taxes. The Organization has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation under Section 509(a) of the IRC. Contributions to the organization qualify for charitable contribution deductions as stated in Section 170 of the IRC. It is the Organization's policy to provide for uncertain tax positions and any related interest or penalties based upon management's assessment of whether a tax benefit is more-likely-than-not is sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. Since the Organization considers itself exempt from any income taxes or reporting requirement, no provision for interest or penalties has been made in these financial statements. The Organization's tax filings are subject to audit by various taxing authorities. The Organization's open tax periods are 2012 to 2014. In evaluating the Organization's tax provisions, management believes their interpretation of current tax laws and non-taxable status is appropriate based upon current facts and circumstances. |
