Public policyneep's public policy projects provide information and encouragement to state policy makers and administrators to set aggressive efficiency goals to capture the tremendous benefits and potential of energy efficiency as a resource, and to adopt and effectively implement policies to achieve those goals. Policy efforts included four main projects:policy outreach and analysis: increases policymaker knowledge of and support for all cost-effective energy efficiency by commenting in relevant policy proceedings, working with other stakeholders to form policy recommendations, developing and disseminating information materials, and promoting leading public policies to regional and national forums.appliance efficiency standards: supports state and federal adoption of minimum efficiency standards that maximize cost-effective savings by linking state interests to federal appliance standards policy development; coordinating state-level standards adoption and implementation; and integrating appliance efficiency standards strategies with regional efficiency program strategies.building energy codes: achieves significant energy savings in new construction, remodeling and renovations by encouraging and assisting states to support and adopt strong national model energy codes that maximize cost-effective savings, and to achieve high levels of energy code compliance including adoption of best practices for home and building energy rating.high performance schools and public buildings: develops and facilitates state and local adoption and use of the latest technical guidance and best practices to increase energy efficiency in new and existing public schools - providing a path to zero net energy buildings through the integration of whole building, high performance design and operation.

Activity 3

Regional evaluation, measurement & verification (em&v) forumneep's em&v forum develops and supports the use of common, consistent regional protocols to measure, verify, track and report the energy and demand savings, as well as cost and emissions impacts, of energy efficiency in the northeast and mid-atlantic.
