IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0PATHWAYS' CHILDCARE PROGRAMS BEGIN AT BIRTH AND OFFER FAMILIES THE OPPORTUNITY OF SEAMLESS SERVICES UNTIL THEIR CHILD REACHES ADOLESCENCE. INCLUDING OUR HEAD START PROGRAM, PATHWAYS IS PROUD TO OFFER ENRICHING EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES TO OVER 500 CHILDREN EACH DAY. OUR YEAR-ROUND SERVICES PROVIDE ASSURANCE TO WORKING PARENTS, OR THOSE SEEKING ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING, THAT THEIR CHILD IS SAFE, NURTURED AND EXPOSED TO CONTINUOUS LEARNING IN THEIR ABSENCE. ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SETS PATHWAYS APART FROM OTHER EARLY EDUCATION CENTERS IS OUR HOLISTIC APPROACH AND FOCUS ON INVOLVING THE ENTIRE FAMILY - NOT JUST THE CHILD. WE SET OUR STANDARDS HIGH, VALUE OUR DEDICATED PROFESSIONAL STAFF AND INVEST IN EACH CHILD'S SUCCESS. PATHWAYS HAS EARNED A REPUTATION AS BEING CONSISTENTLY AHEAD OF THE FIELD IN REGARDS TO BEST PRACTICE AND CONVENING COLLABORATIONS. TOWARD ASSUMING THAT ALL CHILDREN ENTER SCHOOL EAGER AND READY TO LEARN AND ACHIEVE LITERACY PROFICIENCY BY THIRD GRADE, WE HAVE DEVELOPED SUPPORTIVE PARTNERSHIPS, ARTICULATED THROUGH MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING, WITH THE IPSWICH, SALEM, PEABODY, BEVERLY, DANVERS, HAMILTON AND WENHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO WHICH OUR NORTH SHORE CHILDREN SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITION TO KINDERGARTEN. THIS INITIATIVE WILL ASSURE THAT OUR MUTUAL APPROACHES ARE ALIGNED TO ACHIEVE THE SAME OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN AND ENABLE US TO BEGIN THE PROCESS OF TRACKING THOSE OUTCOMES.PATHWAYS ALSO PROVIDES SPECIALIZED SERVICES TO PRIORITY POPULATIONS INCLUDING: CHILDREN WHO HAVE BEEN ABUSED OR NEGLECTED; FAMILIES EXPERIENCING THE CHALLENGE OF ADDICTIONS, FAMILY VIOLENCE, OR POVERTY; ADOLESCENT PARENTS; AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. THROUGH COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MENTAL HEALTH AGENCIES, AND EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAMS, AMONG OTHERS, SUPPORTS ARE PROVIDED THAT CAN ENABLE FAMILIES TO OVERCOME BARRIERS THAT HAVE IMPEDED THEIR SUCCESS. OUR STAFF OF LICENSED SOCIAL WORKERS, PROVIDE ON-GOING SUPPORT SERVICES BOTH IN THE CLASSROOM MILIEU AND ELSEWHERE TO AT-RISK FAMILIES. A VARIETY OF SUPPORT GROUPS AND WORKSHOPS ARE OFFERED TO PARENTS, INCLUDING SOME CONDUCTED IN SPANISH AND PORTUGUESE, LANGUAGES THAT REFLECT THE MAJORITY OF FIRST LANGUAGES SPOKEN BY A SIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGE OF OUR FAMILIES.OFFERING A VARIETY OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENTS TO BE ENGAGED IN THEIR CHILD'S LEARNING EXPERIENCE, IS ANOTHER AREA THAT PATHWAYS' STAFF FOCUS ON. COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES COUPLED WITH OUR FOCUS ON THE CHILD AND HIS OR HER FAMILY, ARE HALLMARKS OF PATHWAYS PROGRAMS AND SETS US APART FROM OTHER ORGANIZATIONS. HOME VISITS BY TEACHERS AND SOCIAL WORKERS HELP FAMILIES SET GOALS FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN. TRANSPORTATION CAN BE PROVIDED TO AND FROM PROGRAMMING IF NEEDED. TWO NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND A SNACK ARE SERVED EACH DAY WITHOUT ADDITIONAL FEES ENABLING US TO FURTHER PROMOTE OUR EFFORTS TO REDUCE THE INCIDENCE OF CHILDHOOD OBESITY. COLLABORATION WITH THE LOCAL PEDIATRICIANS AND THE DENTAL CLINIC ENSURES THAT CHILDREN'S PHYSICAL AND ORAL HEALTH ARE MAINTAINED. REFERRALS FOR OTHER HEALTH SERVICES AND SUPPORTS SUCH AS HOUSING AND ADULT EDUCATION ARE OFFERED IN LANGUAGES THAT ARE SPOKEN IN THE COMMUNITY. FINALLY, COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS ENABLE US TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR OUR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES. ROCKPORT MUSIC PROVIDES ON-SITE CLASSICAL MUSIC PERFORMANCES INTRODUCING OUR CHILDREN TO ORCHESTRAL MUSIC AND INSTRUMENTS.
