Activity 2

Our dental department provides preventative and restorative work, oral surgery, and periodontal care. We offer a state-of-the-art dental clinic consisting of seven dental operatories equipped with fully automatic dental chairs and a computer desktop with dual monitors for patients case presentations and digital radiography. We use the dentrix system, a dental practice management software system, that allows staff to take and store digital x-rays. Dental staff includes general dentists, hygienists, and oral and gum surgery specialists. Treatment is available to all members of the community, including uninsured patients and patients with medicaid, medicare, and health safety net. We also serve as a rotating site for senior dental students at tufts and boston university dental schools. Our primary care providers coordinate care with the dental department, as nurses are trained to screen patients for oral health disease and to assure that they have a yearly dental visit. Our dental department also has a satellite office at techboston academy, a local high school, where students are provided check-ups, cleanings, x-rays and fillings. The dental department recorded 10,153 visits in fy 2013.

Activity 3

Our urgent care department provides same day treatment for illnesses or conditions that need immediate attention. Our staff is comprised of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and medical assistants. Urgent care is often a gateway for patients to become a part of the patient centered medical home, and our staff is trained to identify those individuals that need a primary caregiver. Urgent care is open seven days a week and is a key resource in the community to address urgent needs that should not require a visit to a hospital emergency room. The urgent care department recorded 16,160 visits in fy 2013.
