All members who are on the board of trustees are oriented of the steppingstone, inc. Conflict of interest policy to insure compliance. Monitoring of the policy is conducted at all meetings where there are services/goods requested to be purchased. Members who are involved in the voting of services/goods are asked to abstain from the vote to avoid any conflict of interest. Multiple bids are required to be obtained prior to the vote to allow members to make sound financial decisions.

All compensation for the organization's executive director, top management officials or key employees are researched based on statistics in the geographical area for positions the agency offers. The employees' salaries are then reviewed and are either approved or adjusted by the board of trustees.

Steppingstone, inc. Is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. The organization qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction under section 170(b)(1)(a) and has been classified as an organization other than a private foundation under section 509(a)(2). The organization believes that it has appropriate support for any tax positions taken, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements.

THE PROGRAM PROVIDES BOTH INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY INVOLVED TREATMENT SERVICES.LICENSED SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELORS, PSYCHIATRISTS, AND MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIANS PROVIDE SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES EXPERIENCING SUBSTANCE USE AND/OR MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS.GAMBLING TREATMENT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE THROUGH OUR OUTPATIENT CLINIC TO HELP THOSE EXPERIENCING GAMBLING PROBLEMS.THE OUTPATIENT CLINIC ALSO PROVIDES DRIVER ALCOHOL EDUCATION SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS CHARGED WITH A FIRST OFFENSE DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE MASSACHUSETTS GENERAL LAW CHAPTER 90-24D VIOLATION.
