As part of the search process, a compensation sub-committee was formed consisting of the committee chair and two other board members with employment and financial expertise. The compensation committee collected and summarized relevant benchmark data from the national association of schools and other sources to gain visibility into compensation ranges for similar schools: 1. Schools with operating budgets $6-12m range; 2. New england regional schools; and 3. The number of active and upcoming head searches in peer schools and compensation packages currently being offered 4. They also factored into the equation that the organization is not in the top quartile for but more in the 70th percentile range. These and other factors, were all taken into consideration. They then deliberated as a committee and brought their recommendation to the board. While there are no official committee meeting minutes, the group did document their discussions and deliberations with emails that circulated within the group as the process was underway and by retaining the benchmarking data. Compensation for all other employees is determined during the budgeting process based on the percent increase in salaries. The budget is reviewed by the finance committee and presented to the board for review/approval. The head of school signs all contracts.”
