Teams play in the kearsarge mountain south league and travel to area towns to play other community teams in their age brackets. All teams are coached by volunteers who stress the importance of good sportsmanship and teach the fundamentals of the game.”
“The basketball program held during the winter of 2015 continues into 2016. Approximately 160 boys and girls particpated in the 2015-2016 season. Teams play in the merrimack basketball league, a recreational league. All teams particpate in the end of season tournament. Teams are coached by volunteers who stress good sportsmanship and teach the fundamentals of the game. The kindergarten and pre-k "little dribblers" program which began in 2010 continues to grow and saw record numbers this year. An additional session was added in order to accomodate 40 boys and girls in this program. All participants receive a basketball or trophy to keep at seasons end.”

Teams are coached by volunteers from the weare community and all participants are presented with a medal at the end of the season.”
“Scholarships: no scholarships were awarded in 2015. A handful of free or reduced registrations were offered to the parents of players in financial need. In 2014, the weare athletic club re-introduced its cheer program to the community. Participation included 17 girls in first grade through 4th grade. We offered a 1st and 2nd grade spirit squad, and a 3rd and 4th grade spirit squad which cheered for weare athletic club basketball games within their respective age groups. We also offered a competition team that competed in three local competitions. In the fall of 2015, the club introduced the field hockey program for the first time. This was an overwhelming success and approximately 50 girls between first through eighth grade registered to play within four different teams. Teams play in area towns to play other community teams in their age brackets. There was a fun tournament at the end of the season. Due to the programs success, this will be offered again in the fall of 2016.”

PARTICIPATION INCLUDED 17 GIRLS IN FIRST GRADE THROUGH 4TH GRADE. WE OFFERED A 1ST AND 2ND GRADE SPIRIT SQUAD, AND A 3RD AND 4TH GRADE SPIRIT SQUAD WHICH CHEERED FOR WEARE ATHLETIC CLUB BASKETBALL GAMES WITHIN THEIR RESPECTIVE AGE GROUPS. WE ALSO OFFERED A COMPETITION TEAM THAT COMPETED IN THREE LOCAL COMPETITIONS. IN THE FALL OF 2015, THE CLUB INTRODUCED THE FIELD HOCKEY PROGRAM FOR THE FIRST TIME. THIS WAS AN OVERWHELMING SUCCESS AND APPROXIMATELY 50 GIRLS BETWEEN FIRST THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE REGISTERED TO PLAY WITHIN FOUR DIFFERENT TEAMS. TEAMS PLAY IN AREA TOWNS TO PLAY OTHER COMMUNITY TEAMS IN THEIR AGE BRACKETS. THERE WAS A FUN TOURNAMENT AT THE END OF THE SEASON. DUE TO THE PROGRAMS SUCCESS, THIS WILL BE OFFERED AGAIN IN THE FALL OF 2016. |
