Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Are offered through stanford on-line high school, world language offerings through middlebury college, vt and online school for girls. Courses augment studies not currently offered in derryfield's curriculum. During the summer of 2013 a motivated donor directed significant funds to augment capital enhancements to the entrance of the upper school, replace the boardwalk to the performing arts center and to provide funding for the construction of an outdoor classroom. In 2014 the school installed an antique fire bell, a gift from the same family. The bell was installed in time for commencement with a plaque that reads "given in honor of the derryfield school faculty and staff for their commitment to inspiring and challenging students." other donors continued to direct monies to endowed funds, the creative arts department for equipment and materials, students subsidies which augmented financial aid for needs beyond tuition and to support academic, artists in residence and athletic programs. In may 2014, the school exceeded its 500,000 annual fund goal, raising a total of 561,002 by june 30. Giving included 100% of the trustees and faculty/staff. Others included parents, grandparents, alumni, parents of alumni and friends. During the fall of 2013, the board of trustees endorsed a strategic plan. This plan was unveiled publically in january 2014. The strategies and actions plan include: 1. Belonging: unifying the derryfield family by strengthening connections with our extended community. 2. Leading: becoming a regional and state leader in educational excellence and innovation. 3. Building: the derryfield family deserves a first-class campus to match our first-class programs. 4. Elevating: raise our profile in the state for the purpose of expanding enrollment and ensuring long-term financial strength. Derryfield's continued to offer competitive athletic teams programs amassing championships in both the middle and upper schools. Golf, soccer, field hockey, rowing, swimming, alpine and nordic skiing, lacrosse and cross country running teams sent scholar athletes to regional, state and new england competitions. Students in the creative arts were selected to participate in both instrumental and choral n.h. All state concerts and several upper school students won prizes awarded by the boston globe for original art. Drama productions attracted full houses in november, february and may. Students committed hundreds of hours to service projects both on and off campus. Sixty thanksgiving baskets were distributed, clothing and dry goods were collected for families in transition, the nh food bank, animal rescue leagues of manchester and bedford. Students also supported efforts to take educational materials and medical supplies to romania, costa rico and nepal as part of their international trips in march. In june 67 students graduated with 100% matriculating to 4 year colleges in the united states and europe.
