Mission

Catholic Charities Maine is one of the largest statewide, private, nonprofit, social service agencies in Maine and is committed to improving the quality of life for the individual, the family and the community. Catholic Charities Mission reads: "Inspired by scripture and the Church's social teaching, Catholic Charities empowers and strengthens individuals and families of all faiths by providing innovative community-based social services throughout Maine." It is this spiritual foundation that differentiates Catholic Charities from other social service agencies. The core values of respect, integrity, compassion, hospitality, excellence and stewardship guide all that Catholic Charities does. Catholic Charities Maine builds healthy communities, promotes family life, and enhances human dignity by providing quality, accredited services to meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of individuals and families of all beliefs.

The draft 990 is reviewed in detail after preparation by the independent accounting firm by the Organization's CFO, Controller and Accounting Manager whom then provide feedback and confirmation of acceptance at which time the independent accounting firm finalizes the 990. The final 990 is discussed and accepted at the Organization's Financial Management Committee and Board of Directors meetings and filed.

Board members, non-Board members and members of the Program Advisory Committees are covered. The Policy covers whether a conflict exists, financial and/or interested person(s), direct and/or indirect compensation, duty to disclose, disclosure of such a conflict, procedures for addressing the conflict, violations of this Policy, recordkeeping, compensation, annual statements that are required to be executed by those covered, periodic review and use of outside experts. If a conflict as defined in the Policy exists/is disclosed, the person(s) with the conflict is prohibited from voting on such matters.
