HPHA'S LARGEST PROGRAM IS THE ANNUAL MEETING, WHICH WAS HELD ON APRIL 5 AND 6, 2014 AT THE ALA MOANA HOTEL. ABOUT 100 PHARMACISTS, PHARMACY TECHNICIANS, PHARMACY STUDENTS AND PHARMACEUTICAL REPRESENTATIVES CONVENED AT THIS TWO DAY CONFERENCE. THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER WAS CHRISTOPHER JERRY, PRESIDENT AND CEO OF THE EMILY JERRY FOUNDATION, WHO SHARED "THE EMILY JERRY STORY: FROM TRAGEDY TO TRIUMPH". OTHER TOPICS INCLUDED CODE STROKE, CRITICAL UPDATES FOR HIPAA, COMMON DISEASE CANINIES AND TREATMENT OPTIONS, PHARMACY TECHNICIAN SCORE CARD AND ADVANTAGES OF CERTIFICATION, CHALLEINGING SITUATIONS FOR PATIENTS WITH TYPE 2 DIABETES, SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES AND UPDATE ON HB, SEVEN HABITS FOR HIGHLY SAFE PHARMACISTS AND THEIR ORGANIZATIONS, AND JUST CULTURE, UTILIZING MEDICATION ERRORS IN A POSITIVE LIGHT. NEW OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS WERE INSTALLED.$0$18,219
HPHA'S SECOND LARGEST PROGRAM IS THE PHARMACIST & PATIENT-CENTERED DIABETES CARE CERTIFICATE TRAINING PROGRAM HELD AUGUST 30, 2014 AT INCONTROL DIABETES CENTER. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES AN INTENSIVE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE DESIGNED TO EQUIP PHARMACISTS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED TO PROVIDE EFFECTIVE, EVIDENCE-BASED DIABETES CARE, COMPREHENSIVE IMMUNIZATION EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO PHARMACISTS TO ENABLE THEM TO ESTABLISH AND PROMOTE A SUCCESSFUL IMMUNIZATION SERVICE AT THEIR WORK SITE. PHARMACISTS ARE ALSO TAUGHT HOW TO IDENTIFY AT-RISK PATIENTS NEEDING IMMUNIZATIONS AS WELL AS ADMINISTRATION METHODS IN COMPLIANCE WITH LEGAL AND REGULATORY STANDARDS. FOURTEEN PHARMACISTS COMPLETED THIS ALL DAY TRAINING, 12 MEMBERS AND TWO NON-MEMBERS.$0$3,257
HPHA'S THIRD LARGEST PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENT IS THE PHARMACY-BASED IMMUNIZATION DELIVERY PROGRAM HELD APRIL 4, 2014 AT THE GOLD BOND BUILDING. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES PHARMACISTS WITH THE SKILLS NECESSARY TO BECOME PRIMARY SOURCES FOR VACCINE ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, AND ADMINISTRATION. IT REVIEWS THE BASIC IMMUNOLOGY, IDENTIFIED LEGAL AND REGULATORY ISSUES PHARMACISTS MUST CONSIDER BEFORE STARTING AN IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM AND FOCUSES ON PRACTICE IMPLEMENTATION. 11 PHARMACISTS ATTENDED THIS WORKSHOP.$0$2,333

THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES AN INTENSIVE EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE DESIGNED TO EQUIP PHARMACISTS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CONFIDENCE NEEDED TO PROVIDE EFFECTIVE, EVIDENCE-BASED DIABETES CARE, COMPREHENSIVE IMMUNIZATION EDUCATION AND TRAINING TO PHARMACISTS TO ENABLE THEM TO ESTABLISH AND PROMOTE A SUCCESSFUL IMMUNIZATION SERVICE AT THEIR WORK SITE. PHARMACISTS ARE ALSO TAUGHT HOW TO IDENTIFY AT-RISK PATIENTS NEEDING IMMUNIZATIONS AS WELL AS ADMINISTRATION METHODS IN COMPLIANCE WITH LEGAL AND REGULATORY STANDARDS. FOURTEEN PHARMACISTS COMPLETED THIS ALL DAY TRAINING, 12 MEMBERS AND TWO NON-MEMBERS.
