Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Radical Rest provides communal trauma healing experiences and education to Black, Indigenous and Peoples of Color (BIPOC) folks in the Portland Metro Area. Radical Rest uplifts access to healing for Portland area black and brown communities with free to low cost communal healing events led by BIPOC healer-facilitators who center healing justice. Village Lab Salon - Village Lab Salon is an in-person wellness workshop series that utilizes experiential education and exercises, trauma-informed somatics, and Theater of the Oppressed approaches to center care, witnessing, reciprocal support, skill sharing, spiritual vibrancy, uplift, and communal resilience. In 2025, VLS had 182 attendees. Overall, our program conducted events serving a total of 182 unique individuals, with 92% of the people served being BIPOC (based on racial demographics provided). The demographics of those served included 24% Black, 25% Latinx, 18% multiracial, 23% Pacific Islander/Indigenous, 13% Asian, 8% SWANA, and 6% immigrants. Additionally, 47% of those served were queer, trans non-binary, or two-spirit LGBTQIA+, 21% were disabled or had a chronic illness, and 38% had an income under $45,000 annually. Age demographics included 15% ages 18-30, 38% ages 31-45, 12% ages 46-60, and 2% ages 61-80$0$46,622
SLCP - Somatic Liberation Community Partners partners with other nonprofits and community organizations in the Portland metro area to provide trauma-informed education and experiential healing justice work to BIPOC communities. In 2024, SLCP had 22 participants, 100% of whom identified as BIPOC.$0$20,896
Good Grief - Good Grief is a two-part program: phase 1 (2024) wass the development of a process curriculum for community-based grief work, and phase 2 (2025) is a pilot to deliver the curriculum. In 2025, Good Grief had 44 attendees. Overall, our program conducted events serving a total of 44 unique individuals, with 100% of the people served being BIPOC (based on racial demographics provided). The demographics of those served included 100% Black, 86% multiracial, 43% specifically Indigenous multiracial, 25% Latinx, 23% Pacific Islander/Indigenous, 13% Asian, 8% SWANA, and 6% immigrants. Additionally, 100% of those served were queer, trans non-binary, or two-spirit LGBTQIA+ (2SLGBTQIA+), 29% were trans or non-binary, 86% were cis women, 21% were disabled or had a chronic illness, and 50% had an income under $45,000 annually.
