Provide resources for youth and families to overcome barriers to education, careers, and culture.

To inspire, nurture, and empower youth to pursue careers that bolster our islands' economy, incerease self-reliance, and provide for future generations. Emphasizing experiential learning and youth engagement strategies that develop the whole person, maui hui malama cultivates participant's unique talents, intelligences and character. Through a social-entrepreneurial approach and leveraging resources through partnerships, maui hui malama demonstrates a non-profit social impact model that is organizationally sound, fiscally responsible and sustainable.

Board president and finance committee chair will act as designees to review and make recommendations to the board for approval. A copy is distributed to the board members prior to its filing.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

The conflict of interest policy is regularly and consistently monitored and enforced for compliance. Board members and officers are required to complete a disclosure statement at the annual meeting. Any conflict is required to be disclosed at a board meeting and the discussion is reflected in the minutes. The board member shall refrain from participating in a decision related to a disclosed interest unless authorized to do so by the board.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

In conjunction with the executive committee's annual executive director performance review, the committee performs an analysis of national and local executive director compensation levels for comparable organizations (similar size, programs, budget, etc.). This analysis, along with the organization's budget, is used in determining the executive director's salary. The committee then recommends it to the board of directors for approval. The executive director uses similar procedures and analysis to set employee salary levels which must fit into the organization's annual budget for review and approval by the board of directors.

Hui malama serves as a hub of community services by working with many community organizations, services, and resources to inspire and empower caregivers to support building the capabilities and potential of their children throughout adolscence. County, state and private entities recognize maui hui malama for effectively identifying and coordinating services so that vulnerable youth facing complex circumstances can achieve stabilty and build their own capacity to achieve success at home, school, and work. Hui malama offers each participant experiences that build life skills, produuctive habits and character in a caring and safe enviornment. Clients try new things, and in doing allow themselves to be vulnerable, follow-through on commitments, work through challenges and celebrate earned successes. Clients express that feeling a sense of belonging and establishing trust with skills trainers, tutors and youth coaches, inspires and supports them to develop their own unique strengths. By learning how to access and make the most of available resources, clients explore a variety of fields and disciplines while developing the ability to adapt, grow and excel in their own unique personal, educational and work journey. Through building caring, compassionate, and disciplined indivduals, hui malama transforms vulnerable youth into thriving contributors to maui's social, cultural, economic and environmental well-being for future generations.

THIS ANALYSIS, ALONG WITH THE ORGANIZATION'S BUDGET, IS USED IN DETERMINING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S SALARY. THE COMMITTEE THEN RECOMMENDS IT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR APPROVAL. THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR USES SIMILAR PROCEDURES AND ANALYSIS TO SET EMPLOYEE SALARY LEVELS WHICH MUST FIT INTO THE ORGANIZATION'S ANNUAL BUDGET FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
