Mission and Program Overview

Mission

See schedule o.palolo chinese home (the home) was established in 1896 as a private eleemosynary organization. The home was incorporated in the state of hawaii in 1941 for the purpose of assisting and caring for the aged and chinese of the state of hawaii, maintaining homes for them, aiding in the alleviation of human suffering and distress, and carrying on works of charity, mercy and benevolence. Presently, the home continues its mission to assist and care for elders and their families by providing a continuum of care that is professional and interdisciplinary in a culturally sensitive family setting. The home is currently licensed by the state department of health as an adult residential care home type ii facility and as a skilled nursing and intermediate care facility. The home is also licensed by the state department of human services to operate an adult day care center. The home also obtained a certification as a licensed provider for medicare and medicaid services.
