The Board members report any possible conflicts of interest and excuse themselves from voting if there is a possiblity of an appearance of a conflict of interest.

FORM 990, PART VI, LINE 15A & 15B:

Compensation for the President & CEO is determined by a Board committee who evaluates work performance based on a work plan with goals and specific objectives. The amount of compensation is also determined based on information from various salary surveys of similar-sized United Ways and other non-profit companies. Compensation of the COO and CFO was determined by the President in consultation with the Board Chair based on evaluation of work performance and salary surveys. This process was last used in August 2014.

Aloha United Way evaluates uncertain tax positions utilizing a recognition threshold and measurement attribute for the financial statement recognition and measurement of a tax position taken or expected to be taken in a tax return. At December 31, 2014 and 2013, management believes there were no significant uncertain tax positions and there were no pending federal or state income tax audits. The federal statute of limitations remains open for Aloha United Way for the years ended December 31, 2011 through 2014.
