Business support the maui chamber of commerce is a business membership organization comprised of businesses from all sectors, all sizes, and all areas of the island. The organization offers a variety of programs to benefit its business members (over 90% of which are small businesses with twenty-five or fewer employees). Business support programs are aimed at helping our members plan for a sustainable future, build relationships, market and promote their business, maximize opportunities and grow and prosper. Programs include: advocacy and public education of issues important to businesses, such as creating a "business friendly" environment, addressing appropriate regulation, and creating winning solutions that embrace the triple bottom-line view of sustainability (economy, environment and social well-being); various small business awards programs to honor and recognize outstanding businesses; luncheon meetings that provide access to key leaders (such as the governor & mayor) and provide education on important economic topics; monthly business after hours networking events to establish and build relationships; cost-effective advertising and promotional opportunities; constant communication through the organization's website and weekly enews updates to keep businesses abreast of important business, community and state issues; and the development of other programs that benefit local businesses.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4C

Economic development/industry support a strong economic climate improves business growth and success. The maui chamber of commerce works with various partners on projects and programs that strengthen our economy and support industry development and expansion. A key economic development program is the annual made in maui county festival which features locally made products and manufacturers in maui county and connects them with buyers, wholesalers and distributors and the public (through a public shopping day) to help them increase sales and product awareness. The maui chamber of commerce co-presents this event with the county of maui office of economic development. The made in maui county shoppers marketplace builds upon the success of the made in maui county festival by connecting shoppers to vendors year-round through the marketplace website. The organization also includes two industry trade councils - the made in maui trade council, which benefits local manufacturers, and the construction industry of maui trade council (cim), which supports businesses related to all facets of the construction industry. Cim is currently doing an annual home show for sharing building and design related products and services with maui county residents and visitors. They have also created a scholarship program to support local high school graduates launching into the construction industry or a supporting field. Additionally, other economic or industry programs are created as needed or new opportunities arise.
