Mission
The global fund for award was created to help support the activities of the program, african women in agricultural research and development (award), a preferred service provider of the cgiar. The cgiar consortium is an international non-profit organization which sponsors agricultural projects in developing countries throughout the world. Award is hosted by the world agroforestry centre, a cgiar center based in nairobi, kenya. Award is funded by the bill & melinda gates foundation and usaid. The overall goal of award is to build an effective career development program for women in agricultural research and development in sub-saharan africa, which will allow african women to participate more fully in agricultural development of the continent. The fund was created so that u.s. Based foundations, individuals, and corporations would be encouraged to support african women's role in the agricultural development of sub-saharan africa.
