“A place called home (apch) reported an operating deficit in fy 23/24, which was materially reduced by 42.19% compared to the prior fiscal year. This reduction reflects deliberate financial planning and disciplined management of during a period of continued economic uncertainty. The fy 23/24 deficit was anticipated and approved by the apch's board of directors, in alignment with a multi-year budgeting strategy. A portion of fy23/24 expenses were offset by previously accrued, multi-year grant awards recognized in earlier fiscal years (fy 18/19 thru fy 21/22), which were fulfilled as planned. Additionally, the organization expected to receive federal relief funds that were delayed due to prolonged processing timeliness outside of apch's control. To mitigate the impact of the planned deficit, apch implemented several strategic operational measures: adjusted staffing levels by eliminating or deferring rehiring vacant positions; continued to diversify revenue streams, including the development and execution of new government-funded contracts; utilized a board-approved draw from reserves, as part of a broader strategy to maintain program continuity and organization stability. Apch remains a financially responsible organization. Despite external headwinds, including regional environmental and economic disruptions, we are committed to sound fiscal stewardship, long term sustainability, and uninterrupted service to the youth and families we serve.”
