IRS990/Desc0CURESEARCH SUPPORTS RESEARCH EFFORTS TO IMPROVE TREATMENTS AND FIND CURES FOR CHILDREN'S CANCER. THROUGH COMPETITIVE GRANT MAKING INITIATIVES, CURESEARCH FUNDS RESEARCH TEAMS ACROSS THE COUNTRY THAT STUDY MORE THAN 15 TYPES OF CHILDREN'S CANCER WITH THE GOAL OF IMPROVING CURRENT TREATMENTS, DEVELOPING NEW THERAPIES, AND UNDERSTANDING THE BIOLOGY OF MORE PEDIATRIC CANCER DISEASE TYPES. CURESEARCH FUNDS RESEARCH AT ALL STAGES OF THE PIPELINE, INCLUDING BASIC SCIENCE, TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH, CLINICAL TRIAL DEVELOPMENT, AND THE TESTING OF NEW CANCER THERAPIES. THIS RESEARCH IMPACTS OVER 15,500 CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH CANCER EACH YEAR WITH THE LONG-TERM GOAL OF DEVELOPING THERAPIES THAT CURE CHILDREN TODAY WITHOUT HARMING THEM TOMORROW. (SEE SCHEDULE O FOR CONTINUATION)CURESEARCH FUNDS CLINICAL TRIALS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. CLINICAL TRIALS ENSURE THAT CHILDREN WITH CANCER GET ACCESS TO THE BEST CURRENT TREATMENTS. THE DATA COLLECTED FROM CLINICAL TRIALS ENABLES RESEARCHERS TO ACHIEVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF CANCER BIOLOGY AND GUIDES THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW TREATMENTS AND TREATMENT PROTOCOLS. CLINICAL TRIALS ARE COSTLY FOR HOSPITALS, WHICH RELY ON SUPPORT FROM CURESEARCH AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE TREATMENT FOR CHILDREN WITH CANCER. EACH YEAR, ALMOST 10,000 CHILDREN ARE ENROLLED IN CLINICAL TRIALS. IN ADDITION TO FUNDING RESEARCH, CURESEARCH ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION AND RESOURCES TO PATIENTS AND FAMILIES. CURESEARCH RESOURCES INCLUDE CURESEARCH.ORG, AN ONLINE RESOURCE WITH PLAIN LANGUAGE INFORMATION ON DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT FOR CHILDRENS CANCER; A LIBRARY OF PROCEDURE VIDEOS THAT DEMONSTRATE CANCER TREATMENTS FOR CHILDREN; AND WEBINARS AND GUIDES FOR PARENTS ON COPING WITH CANCER, FINDING COMMUNITY SUPPORT, AND REINTEGRATING A CHILD INTO SCHOOL AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENTS. THESE RESOURCES AID ABOUT 28,500 INDIVIDUALS EACH YEAR.
