“The Form 990 will be reviewed by management and the finance committee, then provided to the full board prior to its filing.”
“The Board of Directors sign a declaration of non conflict of interest annually. Compliance with the conflict of interest policy is regularly and consistently monitored and enforced as defined in Article X "Periodic Review" in the Conflict of Interest Policy.”
“The Board of Directors may hire an independent executive recruiting firm and also uses a professional HR organization when selecting a President & CEO. The Board has established recruitment, selection and related policies, which guide the staffing of other Allies positions. Allies is committed to recruiting and hiring enough appropriately qualified and best suited personnel to support achievement of its mission and strategic goals, and best serve its clients. Allies seeks to employ, in its best judgment, the most qualified candidates for approved positions while engaging in recruitment and selection practices that are in compliance with all applicable employment laws and best practices. Compensation is determined through wage surveys specific to their job title/function and service areas. In addition, we review comparability data on these roles in similarly sized organizations, to get to a salary range that is both competitive and sustainable.”
“Form 990, audited financials and the Form 1023 are available upon request, and the Form 990 is posted on guidestar.org annually.”
“through comprehensive child and family services. All children need a childhood. Allies for Every Child ("Allies") brings together and strengthens families, cultivating conditions for children to succeed in life. Allies is a community-based organization with a more than 35-year history of working with children and families in Los Angeles who have experienced deep poverty, trauma, abuse, neglect, and social and economic barriers. Founded in 1987 as a foster care agency, Allies has maintained this work as our anchor. However, because the vast majority of child welfare system involvement is caused by neglect, Allies has continued to expand our approach throughout the years to encompass a range of trauma-responsive, child-centered, and family-focused services aimed at prevention of involvement (or further involvement) with the child welfare system. Today, Allies impacts the lives of more than 3,000 people each year through innovative foster care and adoption services, intensive family strengthening interventions, and high-quality early education programs, as well as a range of critical, multidisciplinary supports that all Allies families can access, including early childhood mental health services, pediatric health consultations, disability screenings/advocacy, community events, etc. With a deep understanding of how adversity can impact the developing brain, Allies' team of experts designs and delivers services using a neurobiologically-informed, trauma-sensitive, relationship-focused approach. Allies is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), which recognizes Allies as an agency that has successfully implemented the highest performance standards and, as such, is delivering the highest quality services.”
“Allies is exempt from taxation under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 23701d. Generally accepted accounting principles provide accounting and disclosure guidance about positions taken by an organization in its tax returns that might be uncertain. Management has considered its tax positions and believes that all of the positions taken by Allies in its federal and state exempt organization tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination. Allies' returns are subject to examination by federal and state taxing authorities, generally for three and four years, respectively, after they are filed.”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Child Development/Early Childhood Education:Allies provides comprehensive, trauma-informed, culturally responsive early education programming that is focused on social-emotional development and designed to prepare children and their families who face a myriad of stressors (e.g., poverty, child welfare system involvement, special needs/disabilities, etc.) for kindergarten and beyond. Allies serves more than 300+ children (0-5) every year in nurturing environments at our state-of-the-art early education center, through our network of licensed home-based education providers, and in individual family homes, with priority placement for children in foster care and families experiencing homelessness. Allies maintains a low staff-to-child ratio in our inclusive, bilingual classrooms to ensure every child's healthy social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Allies' programs are data-driven and designed with the flexibility to be responsive to individual child and family needs, exceeding requirements set by funders and oversight bodies. And because Allies knows parent/caregiver engagement is imperative to children's long-term success, Allies nurtures relationships with families, partnering with them to support their children's healthy development through home visits, parent-teacher conferences, parenting groups, volunteer opportunities, etc. Children and families enrolled in Allies' early education programs also have access to extensive individualized supports, including early childhood mental health services, pediatric health consultations, disability screenings/advocacy, community events, etc. Allies provides this level of quality by strategically layering and leveraging private dollars and government contracts (e.g., Early Head Start, California Department of Social Services, U.S.D.A.'s Child and Adult Care Food Program, etc.) |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc | 0 | Comprehensive, Integrated Services:Because every child and family's circumstances are unique, Allies invests in providing an array of vital, multidisciplinary supports tailored to meet the individual needs of children and families across all programs. For example, because of Allies' extensive experience working with children who have experienced trauma, and the knowledge that birth through age five is a crucial window of brain development, Allies' team of social workers and therapists provide infant and early childhood mental health services to hundreds of children and their families each year to help heal the wounds of childhood trauma, helping children build trusting relationships with nurturing adults. Through this integrated Early Childhood Mental Health model, Allies provides trauma screenings and mental health services, including dyadic therapy, psychoeducation groups, mental health consultation, and client-centered advocacy. A focus of this work is helping caregivers regulate their emotional state so they can form secure attachment with their child and buffer the impact of trauma. Additionally, Allies provides children and families with semiannual disabilities screenings and year-round advocacy, pediatric health consultations, dental and vision screenings, nutrition education, parenting groups, etc., and we work closely with a robust network of community partner agencies such as Upward Bound House, Safe Place for Youth, Good Shepherd Shelter, Venice Family Clinic, St. Joseph Center, Harvest Home, Claris Health, A Child's Dream, and Miriam's House to ensure families are connected with stable housing, medical care, etc. Transitional Age Youth Family Residential Program:Allies recognizes the severe shortage of homelessness services specifically designed for unhoused families, particularly those led by former foster youth with young children. During FY23/24, Allies secured land use entitlements from the City of Los Angeles to build 14 family apartments, supportive services buildings, and community green spaces with safe play areas adjacent to the Allies' Early Education Center. We are eager to extend our dual-generation expertise to serve even more clients through this innovative on-site housing and supportive services program. Having reached the significant milestone of obtaining entitlement approval from the City, we are excited to move forward with the next phase of the project and take concrete steps to bring this vision to life. |
