We focus our work in three key areas because nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier lives and supporting our neighbors are fundamental to strengthening communities. All persons are welcome at our ymca, regardless of their ability to pay. Our ymca is founded and led by volunteers from our community; volunteers also serve as mentors, coaches, program leaders, instructors, and more. The success of our ymca lies in the strength of our volunteers.

“The organization has a conflict of interest policy. Management reviews the board membership each year to determine any possible conflicts. Each board member completes an annual disclosure statement. The disclosure statements are also reviewed by management to determine any possible conflicts, with the original kept on file. Conflict of interest policy: the ymca expects that its employees will not engage in, directly or indirectly, any conduct that is disloyal, disruptive or potentially damaging to the ymca and its reputation. In addition, all ymca staff that work directly with children are required to take training above their current education and experience in child abuse prevention within the first 30 (thirty) days of employment and subsequently every two years after that. As part of our policies on the protection of children, staff is not allowed to relate to members/participants outside the ymca programs. While employees have freedom of expression with personal internet blogs, websites or social networking sites outside of the employment with the ymca, care must be taken with any indirect reference to the ymca, its employees or program participants. It is important to exercise good judgement in any public forum to help ensure that the ymca identity and reputation is never unknowingly portrayed in an objectionable light. No employee will directly or indirectly maintain any outside business or financial interest or engage in any outside employment, business, or financial activity which conflicts with the interests or principles of the association. Outside business activities may not be conducted during work time or with resources of the association. Employees must disclose any financial interest they or a member of their immediate family has in any organization that does business with the ymca. Disclosures should be made to the human resource department.”

WE ALSO OPERATE AN AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT AND SAFETY PROGRAM AT 21 SCHOOL CAMPUSES THAT FOCUS ON HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, ENRICHMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES. ADDITIONALLY WE PARTNER WITH COACHELLA VALLEY HOUSING COALITION TO PROVIDE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMMING AT 7 LOW INCOME HOUSING SITES THROUGHOUT THE COACHELLA VALLEY. WE ENGAGE OUR PARTICIPANTS IN A VARIETY OF EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO HELP THE COMMUNITY DEVELOP HABITS AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO MORE ACTIVE LIFESTYLES. |
