Activity 2

College access programs: 10,000 degrees is a nationally recognized college access and success organization serving more than 2,500 students annually from low-income families in the north bay. Our flagship program, 10,000 degrees institute, is a two-year college access initiative that propels more than 250 high school juniors and seniors annually toward college. The institute's primary event is a one-week residential intensive where students live on a college campus and participate in college preparation and planning. Year-round activities include: mentoring, admission and financial aid workshops, and personal essay writing classes. 10,000 degrees also offers free college access programs including: campus tours, financial aid information, and fafsa completion workshops with students and families.

Activity 3

College success programs: the goal of the 10,000 degrees college success program is to ensure that all of our students complete their undergraduate degrees within six years. Our college success program provides ongoing support throughout their undergraduate careers. Comprehensive services include: monthly on-campus office hours at our local community colleges, peer-to-peer mentoring, monthly on-line student newsletter with resources for college success, and regular workshops on financial aid, time management skills and career development. 10,000 degrees staff is also available via email, phone and facebook for all students, at any time. 10,000 degrees students enrolled in four-year colleges have an 84% graduation rate.
