Mission

From 1996 to the present, passkeys foundation jefferson center for character education has worked in collaboration with non-profits and the oc business community, educational institutions, school districts, civic and/or religious organizations, and individuals to present character and ethics education programs, publications, presentations focused on values- centered education which underscores seven performance character ethical assets: personal responsibility, positive self worth, purpose, plan, paying the price partnership and persistence. Through its unique publications and programs based on common core virtues that cut across ethnic, cultural and religious lines, the foundation focuses its vision of helping to build a nation of character at home, at work and in the community. In december, 1999, the jefferson center for character education merged with passkeys foundation.

IN 2018 PASSKEYS FOUNDATION PURSUED ITS THIRD YEAR OF COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING THROUGH ITS INSTITUTE FOR COMMUNITY IMPACT. 3RD YEAR MULTI-PROGRAM INITIATIVES INCLUDED: (A)THREE LEADERSHIP BREAKFAST PROGRAMS (FEBRUARY, MAY, SEPT). AT EACH PROGRAM THREE OC NON PROFITS PRESENTED THEIR MISSION STORY AND STRATEGIC CHALLENGE TO AN AUDIENCE OF OC COMMUNITY PROFESSIONALS. THE PARTICIPATING AUDIENCE OF 85-110 OC COMMUNITY PROFESSIONALS AT EACH PROGRAM WERE ENGAGED IN EXPLORING THE 1 STRATEGIC CHALLENGE OF THE NON-PROFIT. AT A FOLLOW UP MORNING EVENT HELD WITHIN 2 WEEKS AFTER EACH BREAKFAST PROGRAMS, EACH NON-PROFITS HOSTED A FOCUS MEETING AT THEIR OFFICES INVOLVING INTERESTED PROFESSIONALS WHO ATTENDED THE BREAKFAST TO PURSUE A DEEPER EXPLORATION OF PROBLEM-SOLVING WITH EACH NON PROFIT RELATED SPECIFICALLY TO THE NON-PROFIT'S STRATEGIC CHALLENGE. EACH STRATEGIC CHALLENGE FOLLOW-UP MEETING WAS FACILITATED BY A MEMBER OF THE INSTITUTE'S ADVISORY TEAM. TYPICALLY, 6-10 INDIVIDUALS ATTENDED THE FOLLOW UP, AFTER SIGNING UP TO PARTICIPATE AT THE INITIAL BREAKFAST PROGRAM. (B)TWO DISTINCT 2-DAY COMMUNITY FORUMS WERE PRESENTED AND FACILITATED BY THE INSTITUTE INVOLVING LEARNING, INTERACTING, EXPLORING COMMUNITY NEEDS AND SERVICES FOCUSED ON THE 7 PILLARS OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: GOVERNMENT, FAITH, ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT, BUSINESS, EDUCATION, HEALTHCARE, FAMILY AND SOCIAL SERVICES. FORUM 1: SANTA ANA COMMUNITY FORUM WAS A TWO-DAY EVENT HELD IN JUNE INVOLVING 13 COMMUNITY PARTICIPANTS WHO WERE ENGAGED IN A HIGHLY FOCUSED, INTERACTIVE EXPLORATION FOCUSING ON 7 PILLAR PRESENTATION MADE BY SANTA ANA COMMUNITY LEADERS. SEVEN OC COMMUNITY PROFESSIONALS SERVED AS PRESENTERS AT THE FORUM WITH EACH PRESENTER REPRESENTING ONE OF THE SEVEN PILLARS OF INFLUENCE. FORUM 2: ABREGO SCHOLAR STUDENT PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING CAL STATE UNIVERSITY, FULLERTON WERE INVOLVED IN A 1 EVENING AND DAY PROGRAM WITH PRESENTATIONS AND DISCUSSION BY 7 CAL STATE UNIVERSITY GRADUATES REPRESENTING THE 7 PILLAR COMMUNITY INSTITUTIONS SHAPING THE LIFE OF ORANGE COUNTY. (C)THE 3RD ANNUAL INSTITUTE FOR COMMUNITY IMPACT'S OC INFLUENCERS FOR GOOD CELEBRATION WAS HELD AT THE SAMUELI THEATRE AT THE SEGERSTROM CENTER FOR THE ARTS ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 225 GUESTS. FOUR OUTSTANDING OC HONOREES WERE RECOGNIZED FOR THEIR SIGNIFICANT ACHIEVEMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS IN FOUR OF THE 7 COMMUNITY PILLARS: BUSINESS, GOVERNMENT, EDUCATION AND HEALTH. THE INSTITUTE'S HONOREES WERE SELECTED BY AN AD-HOC COMMITTEE OF THE INSTITUTE'S ADVISORY BOARD. A MUSICAL PRESENTATION BY CHILDREN FROM ORANGE COUNTY'S THE ARTS AND LEARNING ACADEMY WAS RECEIVED WITH EXUBERANT APPRECIATION. SUE PARKS, CEO OF UNITED WAY OC WAS THE EVENT'S KEYNOTE SPEAKER. SHE PRESENTED AN EXTRAORDINARILY POIGNANT PRESENTATION OF THE HOMELESS STORY IN ORANGE COUNTY. (D) THE INSTITUTE INTRODUCED A SMALL FUNDRAISING EVENT INTO ITS PROGRAMMING WITH A 9 HOLE GOLF CHALLENGE HELD AT THE TUSTIN RANCH GOLF CLUB ATTENDED BY APPROXIMATELY 33 GOLFERS. Form 990-ez, Part III, Line 28

In 2018 passkeys foundation pursued its third year of community programming through its institute for community impact. 3rd year multi-program initiatives included: (a)three leadership breakfast programs (february, may, sept). At each program three oc non profits presented their mission story and strategic challenge to an audience of oc community professionals. The participating audience of 85-110 oc community professionals at each program were engaged in exploring the 1 strategic challenge of the non-profit. At a follow up morning event held within 2 weeks after each breakfast programs, each non-profits hosted a focus meeting at their offices involving interested professionals who attended the breakfast to pursue a deeper exploration of problem-solving with each non profit related specifically to the non-profit's strategic challenge. Each strategic challenge follow-up meeting was facilitated by a member of the institute's advisory team. Typically, 6-10 individuals attended the follow up, after signing up to participate at the initial breakfast program. (b)two distinct 2-day community forums were presented and facilitated by the institute involving learning, interacting, exploring community needs and services focused on the 7 pillars of community engagement: government, faith, arts and entertainment, business, education, healthcare, family and social services. Forum 1: santa ana community forum was a two-day event held in june involving 13 community participants who were engaged in a highly focused, interactive exploration focusing on 7 pillar presentation made by santa ana community leaders. Seven oc community professionals served as presenters at the forum with each presenter representing one of the seven pillars of influence. Forum 2: abrego scholar student participants attending cal state university, fullerton were involved in a 1 evening and day program with presentations and discussion by 7 cal state university graduates representing the 7 pillar community institutions shaping the life of orange county. (c)the 3rd annual institute for community impact's oc influencers for good celebration was held at the samueli theatre at the segerstrom center for the arts attended by approximately 225 guests. Four outstanding oc honorees were recognized for their significant achievements and contributions in four of the 7 community pillars: business, government, education and health. The institute's honorees were selected by an ad-hoc committee of the institute's advisory board. A musical presentation by children from orange county's the arts and learning academy was received with exuberant appreciation. Sue parks, ceo of united way oc was the event's keynote speaker. She presented an extraordinarily poignant presentation of the homeless story in orange county. (d) the institute introduced a small fundraising event into its programming with a 9 hole golf challenge held at the tustin ranch golf club attended by approximately 33 golfers. (e) the institute for community impact' s advisory team of approximately 23 individuals met three times in 2018 to offer counsel, input and promotion of the 2018 institute programming.

The inspiration impulse russell williams, president and founder of passkeys continued his work-week blog for the business and professional community, titled the inspiration impulse. The blog post messaging continued to focus on inspirational storytelling on the themes of character, values, personal and professional self-development about an individual's responsibility, opportunity and privilege to be an everyday influencer for good at home, at work and in the community.
