Activity 2

Social / senior servicesthe family and community services department houses csc's social and community services programs which were the first services established by csc. Social and senior services in-depth, integrated, holistic, multi-sectoral case management assistance. The staffs are cross-trained on all agency programs and services, community resources, and government benefits, in order to better address gaps in the county level provision of case management services. Social and senior services also provides many vital services to the community: * outstation services - to ensure better access to government information and application processing, the social services department regularly serves as an outstation to the social security administration and the department of public social services. * elderly services - another service that the social services department provides is the escapa (elderly services consortium for asian pacific americans) program. This program offers respite to primary caregivers of the elderly, housekeeping and personal care to the elderly and care management to the elderly population.* in-home services - in-home services training program is a training program for monolingual chinese older adults to gain employment in in-home and adult day health care centers.

Activity 3

Worksource centera prerequisite for people to become self sufficient and eventually contributing members of the society is to have a stable job that will make their ends meet. The center's employment program aims to develop opportunities for the unemployed and the under employed. The program consists of career-related training and job placement services. Employment training introduces the participants to employment standards in the u.s., interviewing techniques, assertiveness training, job application resume preparation and development strategies. Through staff assisted job referrals and placement services, participants can then gain employment with or without on-the-job training where participants are placed as regular employees upon completion of the training. The program also registers and funds job specific training, such as computer skills classes, esl classes, medical billing training, weekly orientation and bi-weekly job club; which include resume writing and interview skill. The employment programs assisted over 3,618 people in job related services last year.at the career resource room of the chinatown worksource center, customers seeking employment:* are greeted by friendly staff who speak their languages and offer them the assistance they need;* have access to state-of-the-art computerized job search, current job postings, resume and pre-employment workshops;* receive one-on-one career planning and counseling, personalized job placement, and paid on-the-job training opportunities.through the youth opportunities program, the workforce development department also offers local community youth ages 14-21 the opportunities for employment, work readiness preparation, basic skills enrichment and training.for our business customers, the chinatown worksource center offers a wide array of services which include:* access to business assistance and loan information;* pre-screening, recruitment and referral of qualified applicants;* customized training programs, wage reimbursements for on-the-job training and the latest labor market information;* use of the center's facilities for recruiting, interviewing and screening of job applicants.
