“The museum collections include a large collection of native american artifacts with a concentration on the chumash indians. Other tribes across north, central, and south america are also represented. In addition to the native american artifacts in the main gallery are other exhibits in the downstairs gallery on the historical period of settlement in the lompoc valley. These exhibits include storefronts of some of lompoc's early businesses as well as exhibits on important local industry and historical events. Within these exhibits are photographs, documents, and artifacts of the period on loan from the lompoc valley historical society. Also represented in the downstairs exhibits are the area fauna and exhitis on local industry.”

“The exhibits and artifacts within those exhibits help tell the story of the lompoc valley from its first settlement by the chumash indians some 10,000 years ago up to pioneer settlement in the 1870's. The lompoc museum tells the story of the lompoc valley through its permanent and temporary exhibits, school tours, community programs-including lectures and live performances, and participation in community events. As stewards of the historic carnegie library building and the clarence ruth collection of native american artifacts, the mission of the lompoc museum is to preserve, display, and interpret the cultural history of the lompoc valley while offering unique educational experiences. The 1920 carnegie building houses permanent and rotating exhibits. The 1876 artesia one-room country school with period furniture and displays recreates educational experiences of the earliest lompoc valley children. Stone pine hall provides a venue for cultural programs and community meetings.”
