Mission

With a culture of service and commitment to building a society which fosters access of all persons to truth, dignity and full human development, ihc seeks to strategically change practices and situations through art, education, spirituality, and social services.

The object and purposes of the immaculate heart community non-profit corporation are to provide for the continuing education and training of candidates and members through workshops and retreats and a three year orientation process; to coordinate the various temporal affairs of the community, to establish, conduct, maintain, manage, operate and offer services in education, health care, spiritual and social works, and generally carry out the various religious, education, charitable, and benelovent purposes for which this corporation was organized under its former title, "sisters of the immaculate heart".

The corita art collection was bequeathed by corita kent (formerly sister mary corita) in 1986, as well as the copyright to all her works. She was one of our country's most celebrated serigraph artists who gained international fame through her creative, magical use of color and words. Her art is in the permanent collections of over 40 major museums. Her works contribute to the immaculate heart community's mission to build relations in society which foster access of all persons to truth, dignity and full human development.the community has computerized the collection and is investigating methods to preserve this collection for future generations. The value of this collection is believed by management to be significant, but appraisals are not available at this time.the community has determined that the cost to capitalize the collection retroactively would be excessive because records of the fair value at the date of contribution of donated items are unreliable or do not exist. For this reason the community has decided to not capitalize its art collection.
