“The form 990 is made available to all executive board members; the board does not review the form 990 prior to it being filed. It is reviewed prior to filing by the Secretary-Treasurer and can be signed by either the President or the Secretary-Treasurer of IATSE Local 44.”

“Local 44 maintains its own internal conflict of interest policy and is, as well, governed by Section 302 of the Taft-Hartley Act (29 USC Section 186), which also requires, as a matter of law, the disclosure of potential conflicts. As such, and annually, the officers and employees of Local 44 are (1) reminded of their obligations to avoid conflicts of interest and (2) if applicable, to file a Form LM-30 with the United States Department of Labor, an event required by Section 302 if certain conflicts arise. When required, the Local holds training for newly elected officers and staff on the avoidance of conflicts and when the need to file a Form LM-30 may arise.”

Rather, Local 44s finances and conflict of interest policy are generally reported on an annual basis to the United States Department of Labor (the Department) through the filing of a Form LM-2. The Department then makes the Form LM-2 available to the public on its website. Otherwise, documents and records relating to Local 44s financial status and its conflict of interest policy are available for inspection only by members in good standing of Local 44.”
