Form 990, Part III, Line 4D: Other Program Services Description

OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Continued From Form 990 Page 2We Care is licensed by the State of California and has provided early intervention and child development programs since 1960, serving thousands of children and their families with great success. Our staff consists of professional licensed, pre-licensed therapist, and teachers and associates that specialize (have training and education on infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers) in early childhood development, emotional as well as physical. Our services are flexible and individualized. We Care continually reviews the needs of the community, expanding and enhancing programs and services as needed.Who do we serve? * Children attending our programs may be a typically developing child attending our State pre-school, a child displaying emotional difficulties such as anger, aggression, lack of bonding, social-emotional difficulties, or a child who has a disability or developmental delay. We specialize in working with special needs & at risk children. Our early childhood and intervention programs are designed to meet the needs of each child and their family. Our center-based program is a four and a half hour program offering many opportunities for peer-to-peer interaction and a 1:3 teacher child ratio. Each classroom has occupational therapy, speech, and mental health consultation services available to address all areas of a child's development.* Home and community based services are provided in the child's home, pre-school, day care, in one of our offices or wherever the child's family determines is the best place for service. Our licensed therapists or trained paraprofessional works with the child on a 1:1 basis.Developmental Services* Center-based programsWe provide therapeutic interventions, mental health interventions, education, and developmental programs. Our center-based program for children 18 months to 6 years emphasizes the development of the whole child. Activities focus on the development of social, communication (sign and spoken), self-help, motor, cognitive, and play skills. The activities are individualized and planned to match each child's developmental level. Activities are provided in a variety of ways to provide a wide range of learning opportunities. Our therapists and teachers develop our center-based curriculum based on best practices used in early childhood learning programs. We provide monthly training to our staff and educational conferences and seminars to therapists and teachers.* Home/Community Based ProgramsWe Care Therapy Services, our home/community-based developmental program offers a variety of services for infants and children. The type of service needed is determined after an assessment of the child's developmental level is completed. Services may include occupational therapy to enhance a child's movement, fine and gross motor development, daily living skills, and independence; individual speech therapy to increase a child's ability to communicate their needs and wants; parent/child group to actively involve caregivers in their child's development, or services with a Child Development Specialist who can address the developmental needs of a child with global delays.* Autism Family Support ProjectThe mission of our Autism Family Support Project is to be a liaison of information and a social support for the autistic family member and the family. We strive to de-stigmatize autism and provide tools and resources that make it easier for parents to create a family environment that is inclusive and healthy for all family members. We provide parent education, family night out, parent to parent support groups, and summer camps.Mental Health* Child Care SolutionsWe provide a no cost consultation when a child is struggling with behavioral or developmental problems in the pre-school/childcare setting. Financial Statement Notes

Part X : FIN48 Footnote

Income TaxesFinancial statement presentation follows the recommendations of ASC 740, Income Taxes. Under ASC 740, We Care is required to report information regarding its exposure to various tax positions taken by the organization and requires a two-step process that separates recognition from measurement. The first step is determining whether a tax position has met the recognition threshold; the second step is measuring a tax position that meets the recognition threshold. Management believes that it has adequately evaluated its current tax positions and has concluded that as of June 30, 2014, We Care does not have any uncertain tax positions for which a reserve or an accrual for a tax liability would be necessary. We Care has received notification from the Internal Revenue Service and the State of California that it qualifies for tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and Section 23701d of the California Revenue and Taxation Code. This exemption is subject to periodic review by federal and state taxing authorities and management is confident that the organization continues to satisfy all federal and state statutes in order to qualify for continued tax exempt status. We Care may periodically receive unrelated business income requiring the organization to file separate tax returns under federal and state statutes. Under such conditions, We Care calculates and accrues the applicable taxes payable.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0* Advocates on behalf of the children and families we serve at state and local levels.* Recognizes that the quality, motivation and performance of our employees is a key factor in achieving our success.* Acknowledges that our employees are valued assets of our agency, and we will strive to achieve an organizational structure and culture that promotes employee involvement, open communication, teamwork and cooperation. We Care Services for Children is a private, nonprofit agency devoted to serving early childhood and their families in Contra Costa County. Our approach emphasizes the development of the "whole child" by providing a variety of programs in Contra Costa County for special needs and typically developing children.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0We believe that early intervention and child development services are critical to ensure that young children are equipped with the skills they will need to start school and be ready to learn.Preventive early childhood services can improve children's outcomes and by investing now, the need for higher priced care as the child grows will be reduced. Therapeutic intervention and early childhood education is provided to children in a warm and caring environment while meeting each child's individual needs. Our low child to staff ratio allows individual attention to be given to the children. Having an integrated program of special needs and typically developing children allow the children to learn from one another and promote tolerance of differences. Continued on Schedule O
