The association amended its bylaws to: -add a retired membership classification as another level of membership; -increase the number of directors elected by the membership from 5 to 6 with terms staggered so that president elect & alternation of 2 or 3 directors are elected on alternating years; -add the officer position of vice president for reserach and advancement; -remove the following standing committees: membership development committee, policies & procedures/bylawys committee, public relations committee, federal relations committee, diversity, equity and inclusion committee, publications/newsletter committee, advancement committee, research/nsea journal committee, awards & recognition committee, & volunteerism committee; -add the following standing committees: marketing, membership and communication committee, & training committee;

Organization formed for the public benefit with members. Member classifications are: individual, institutional, corporate/sustaining, honorary, and retired.

Election of the board of directors shall be held each year under the supervision of the elections committee. Six (6) directors shall be elected by the membership. Terms shall be staggered with a president elect and alternation of two (2) or three (3) directors being elected alternating years. Regions and the membership shall be asked for nominations for those who will be placed on the ballot. In the absence of nominations, the nsea board will recruit candidates. Two (2) additional board members shall be appointed by the board for one year terms to ensure representation from each region.
