“Harambee supports a community development program in zimbabwe through the creation and updating of community specific training material for women and youth. Our efforts enable them to achieve economic independence by creating and successfully managing small businesses. This material is used in a community development project in partnership with rotary international, the local government in zimbabwe and local non-profits. Harambee provides supplies and materials to be used by the trainers. Harambee volunteers also deliver specialized trainings on site, in conjunction with visits to monitor and evaluate the trainings and their impact on the communities.over 4,000 people, primarily women, have gone through this training using the manuals and other materials supplied by harambee.during 2014, harambee provided a contribution of $3,500 to denver mile high rotary foundation. These funds were then leveraged with funding by the rotary foundation and other funders to provide a grant of $73,250 for advanced business and computer training for women in harare, zimbabwe. This new project serves the same communities as before but enhances the business skills of the women. This grant, with funding from harambee, was also used to purchase ten sets of computer equipment for the trained women.harambee volunteers worked with two newly created organizations in the community, created by trainers from the earlier program. We helped develop training material for the business and loans training which began in the fall of 2014.by the end of 2014, harambee has helped support a program that has benefitted more than 4,000 people directly and at least 50,000 indirectly. The impact has shown up in better health through an understanding about aids. It has created income that has improved the nutrition of the participants and their families. And it has increased the education of the children, as parents are able to pay school fees through their economic activities.”
