Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2

Jeannie Little and Patt Denning, the Executive Director and the Director of Clinical Services and Training respectively, are domestic partners. They have no other business relationship outside of the Organization.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

An electronic copy of the 990 is sent to all board members. The Treasurer takes responsibility for reviewing and making any comments to the rest of the board, who then discuss as needed with the Executive Director.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The conflict of interest policy covers the board of directors. The board members annually certify that they do not have any conflicts.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Compensation for the Executive Director is proposed by one or more board members. All members of the board work in the nonprofit sector and are familiar with compensation rates. In the past, we have done salary comparisons with other nonprofit social service organizations in San Francisco. Compensation decisions are based on the financial health of the organization and the extent to which the ED earns or raises sufficient income to cover her salary.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available upon request.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0In 2018 HRTC began a new contract with the City and County of San Francisco to develop low threshold substance use and mental health treatment for homeless transition-aged youth.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Jeannie Little and Patt Denning, the Executive Director and the Director of Clinical Services and Training respectively, are domestic partners. They have no other business relationship outside of the Organization.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2An electronic copy of the 990 is sent to all board members. The Treasurer takes responsibility for reviewing and making any comments to the rest of the board, who then discuss as needed with the Executive Director.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3The conflict of interest policy covers the board of directors. The board members annually certify that they do not have any conflicts.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4Compensation for the Executive Director is proposed by one or more board members.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt5The organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available upon request.
