Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

The role of the audit committee is to 1) review the year end financials, 2) work with the director of finance to address any audit recommendations or related findings, 3) to meet with the auditors to review the audit report, and 4) to approve the audit report.

Financial Statement Notes

PART V, LINE 4:

Endowment funds used for scholar's fund.

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization is a qualified organization exempt from federal and california income taxes under the provision of internal revenue code ("irc") section 501(a) as an organization described under irc section 501(c)(3) and 23701d of the california revenue and taxation code, respectively. Accordingly, the organization has paid no income taxes and the financial statements include no provision for income taxes. Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america provide accounting and disclosure guidance about positions taken by an organization in its tax returns that might be uncertain. Management has considered its tax positions and believes that all of the positions taken by the organization in its federal and state tax returns are more likely than not to be sustained upon examination.
