Activity 2

In 2011, the san francisco bicycle coalition's great streets project, in partnership with san francisco planning and urban research, continued to work for improved and much-needed public space throughout our city. Teaming up with government, business and neighborhood partners, we were able to dramatically scale up the number of parklets in san francisco. We also partnered with other nonprofits and government to help win support for expanding sunday streets to test the city's appetite for a more frequent, regular route. For both of these projects, our members and volunteers conducted extensive data collection and analysis to understand their impact.

Activity 3

The sfbc also continued to educate, endorse and help campaign on behalf of bicycling-friendly elected officials and ballot measures on the fall 2011 ballot. The election featured a race for mayor and an important ballot measure that would dedicate funding for bicycling and other complete streets projects. We worked with our members and board to interview and select candidates for endorsement, and then organized volunteers and members to educate bicycling voters about our endorsements. We also sought to educate all candidates about how to work on behalf of great bicycling in san francisco.
