The hiller aviation museum uses aviation as a gateway for people to embrace adventure and innovation while using tools of science to explore how the physical world works and how the dream of flight is made into reality.

Financial Statement Notes

PART III, LINE 1A:

Collection of aircraft engines and other displays owned - purchased aircraft, engines and artifacts are recorded at cost. Contributed aircraft, engines and artifacts are recorded at the donor's valuation at the date of donation. If the donor does not specify a value, the institute records the donation with a value of $1. These items are considered collectibles and therefore are not depreciated. On loan - a substantial portion of the items on display at the institute are on loan, either permanently or under agreements which provide for a termination date. The institute is responsible for preserving and insuring items on loan and in some cases for restoring the item. These items are valued at historical amounts established for insurance purposes by the lender. The value assigned to the loaned items as of june 30, 2014 is $6,682,798. This amount has not been recorded in the accompanying financial statements.

The institute's mission is the use aviation as a gateway for people to embrace adventure and innovation while using tools of science to explore how the physical world works and how the dream of flight is made into reality. Through exhibits and extensive inquiry-based programs that investigate science, aviation and technology subjects, the institute delivers learning experiences to a wide audience, including adults, children and school groups.
