Financial Statement Notes

PART II, LINE 5:

Greenbelt's current stewardship policy includes sections on conservation easement compliance monitoring and easement enforcement, violations, and remedies which are summarized as follows: conservation easements are monitored for compliance with conservation purposes, terms, and conditions of the conservation easement at least once per year; monitoring reports are prepared in a timely fashion that describe current conditions and record any potential violations of the conservation easement; standardized monitoring protocols are applied across all conservation easements; greenbelt ensures that landowners are familiar with terms and conditions of their conservation easements; greenbelt maintains contact with landowners to prevent violations and works closely with landowners to remedy any violations; all violations will be documented; and the greenbelt lands committee in consultation with staff can recommend to the board of directors to pursue legal action to resolve a violation. Greenbelt's conservation easement documents include the right of greenbelt to inspect, monitor, and enforce the terms of the conservation easement, as well as the right to enter the property to conduct monitoring.

PART II, LINE 9:

The trust has acquired and holds a number of conservation easements, each representing a legal interest in land owned by another person or entity. The easements grant the trust the right to use, control, and/or protect the land for conservation purposes. Because of the unique nature of these assets, the impracticality of obtaining consistent and reliable estimates of the values ascribed to these interests, and consistent with the practices followed by many environmental land trusts, the accompanying consolidated financial statements include amounts for these property interests at $1 per easement. At september 30, 2020 and 2019, the trust holds 27 conservation easements on 1,737 acres of land.

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization follows the provision of fasb asc topic of accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. Management has evaluated the organization's tax positions and concluded that there are no uncertain tax positions that require adjustment to the financial statements to comply with provisions of this topic.
