FORM 990, PART IX: SECTION 1.263(A)-1(F) DE MINIMIS SAFE HARBOR ELECTION

Petaluma people services center 1500 petaluma blvd south petaluma, ca 94952 employer identification number: 94-2271299 for the year ending june 30, 2024 petaluma people services center is making the de minimis safe harbor election under reg. Sec. 1.263(a)-1(f).

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 2C:

There has been no change to the oversight or selection process for choosing an independent accountant.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

The center is a not-for-profit organization and is exempt from federal and state income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and section 23701(d) of the california revenue and taxation code. However, the center is subject to income taxes on any net income that is derived from a trade or business, regularly carried on, and not in furtherance of the purposes for which it was granted exemption, commonly referred to as unrelated business income. No income tax provision has been recorded for the year ended june 30, 2024, as management determined that the center had no unrelated business income. The center is subject to, accounting for uncertainty in income taxes, under asc 740, income taxes. Asc 740 requires the evaluation of tax positions taken or expected to be taken in the center's tax returns and does not allow recognition of tax positions that do not meet a "more likely-than-not" threshold of being sustained by the applicable tax authority. The center does not believe it has taken any tax positions that would not meet this threshold. The center's policy is to reflect interest and penalties related to uncertain tax positions as part of income tax expense, when and if they become applicable. The center's federal and state income tax returns are subject to possible examination by the taxing authorities until the expiration of the related statutes of limitations on those tax returns. In general, federal income tax returns have a three-year statute of limitations, and state income tax returns have a four-year statute of limitations.
