Mission

Founded in 1972, next move homeless services, inc. Is a powerful force in moving people experiencing homelessness to higher levels of self-sufficiency through housing. Our mission is to assist families with children and individuals toward self-reliance. Today, next move is a growing, multifaceted and mission-driven organization that houses over 500 people every day in sacramento county. We exist to offer housing solutions, employment opportunities, and transformative life skills in order to bring stability to those most vulnerable.

The 990 is prepared by an accountant and reviewed by the cfo and the ceo/president of the sole member organization prior to filing.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Annually, the directors are provided with a memorandum outlining the disclosure requirements and conflict of interest provision applicable to the directors and officers of the organization. Included is a conflict of interest and disclosure questionnaire that each director and officer is asked to complete, sign, date and return to the board chair. The responses are reviewed by the chair and any conflicts noted are addressed. Throughout the year, any interested person must disclose the existence of a potential conflict to the board or executive committee. The potential conflict is then discussed, in the absence of the interested person, and voted upon by the board.

Management believes that the organization has appropriate support for any tax positions taken affecting its annual filing requirements, and as such, does not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the consolidated financial statements. WE ARE THE ONLY SHELTER THAT OFFERS PRIVATE FAMILY ROOMS. FAMILIES HAVE ACCESS TO THREE HEALTHY AND SATISFYING MEALS PER DAY, DAYCARE PROGRAMS, LAUNDRY FACILITIES, AN ON-SITE PLAYGROUND, AND A CALENDAR OF OTHER TRAUMA-REDUCING ACTIVITIES DURING THEIR STAY. ALL HOUSEHOLDS ARE ASSIGNED A CASE MANAGER WHO PROVIDES VITAL SUPPORT AND OPPORTUNITIES TO ADDRESS BARRIERS TO BEING HOUSED. THE ORGANIZATIONS FAMILY SHELTER OFFERS SUPPORTIVE SERVICES THAT ASSIST IN OBTAINING RESOURCES, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EMPLOYMENT TRAINING AND PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES, DEVELOP A PLAN TO SECURE HOUSING AND ADOPT POSITIVE LIFESTYLE HABITS.

OUR JOB DEVELOPER, WITH THE FUNDING OF CSBG FAMILY SELF SUFFICIENCY, WORKS INTENSIVELY WITH INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE PREPARING TO ENTER THE WORKFORCE AND PROVIDES EMPLOYMENT AND CLOTHING SUPPORT. FRANCIS HOUSE CENTER ALSO OPERATES THE FAMILY RESCUE PROGRAM WITH CSGB SAFETY NET FUNDING. THE PROGRAM PROVIDES TEMPORARY SHELTER FOR PARENTS WITH CHILDREN OR PREGNANT WOMEN. WE ARE ONE OF THE FEW, IF NOT THE ONLY, OPTION FOR SINGLE FATHER WITH CHILDREN. FAMILY RESCUE PROVIDES A PACKAGE OF A ONE WEEK STAY IN A MOTEL, TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, GROCERY ASSISTANCE, JOB SEARCH ASSISTANCE, AND INTENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT TO HELP FAMILIES GET OFF THE STREET AND ON A PATH TO SELF-RELIANCE.

ADDITIONALLY, THE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM-PLUS (THP-PLUS), KNOWN AS ADOLFO TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM FOR FOSTER YOUTH, IS A TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PLACEMENT PROGRAM DESIGNED TO PROVIDE HOUSING AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO FORMER FOSTER YOUTH WHO ARE 18 TO 24 YEARS OF AGE AND WERE PREVIOUSLY SUPERVISED BY CHILD WELFARE OR PROBATION. THE PURPOSE OF THP-PLUS IS TO ASSIST YOUTH AS THEY MOVE FROM DEPENDENCY TO SELF-SUFFICIENCY. LASTLY, THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO RESIDENTS SEEKING TO REMOVE BARRIERS TO HOUSING. THE GOAL OF THE PROGRAM IS TO COMPLETE A COMPREHENSIVE ASSESSMENT OF EACH RESIDENT TO IDENTIFY THE BARRIERS TO OBTAINING AND MAINTAINING HOUSING. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING ASSISTANCE IN REMOVING THE IDENTIFIED BARRIERS, THE ORGANIZATION CONNECTS RESIDENTS TO MAINSTREAM SERVICES, WHICH CAN ALSO INCLUDE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES, WHICH WILL ASSIST THE RESIDENT IN OBTAINING AND MAINTAIN PERMANENT HOUSING.
