“The mission of the left hand valley courier is to provide educational and informational services to residents of the left hand valley in boulder county, colorado, by promoting awareness of the areas economic, social, recreational, and aesthetic valuesincluding music, culture, and the arts; fostering appreciation of its historic, cultural, scenic, scientific, and educational resources, including native american heritage; and educating residents about local events and activities that affect the community.”

“Publication of local weekly newspaper - the left hand valley courier published a weekly newspaper in the niwot, colorado, and gunbarrel, colorado areas for 52 weeks in 2024. The newspaper is published online every week, and is available by subscription after the first three views. In addition, the newspaper is published in print every 4 weeks, for a total of 13 printed editions in 2024. Each print edition consists of 6,000 copies which are distributed free to every household, business and school in the niwot-gunbarrel area. Online only editions are usually 16 to 20 pages, while print editions are usually 24 to 32 pages. This newspaper brings coverage of local events, government activities, school activities, and news of the area to the local population, which is rarely covered by area daily newspapers. This program benefits over 14,000 people who reside or work in the left hand valley.”

“Training and education of student reporters - the left hand valley courier has created an outreach program to the local high school, encouraging students to become paid reporters with respect to local news, sports, and school activities. The courier has created a manual for inexperienced reporters and also hosts training events for new student reporters. The courier has gone from one high school student reporter to five high school student reporters in 2024, and has also increased the number of college student reporters to two.”

“The left hand valley courier has been able to participate in community events, including a weekly summer concert series, and a fall festival at niwot high school to bring greater awareness to the community of the courier's educational efforts and programs. These events are attended by over 2,000 people who live, work and/or attend school in the left hand valley.”
