“Officers will review the 990 before it is filed.”
“Combat recovery foundation upholds the highest standards of integrity and transparency in its operations, ensuring that all decisions are made in the best interest of the organization and the veterans it serves. The conflict of interest policy is a critical component of our governance structure, and we implement the following measures to monitor and enforce compliance: 1. Annual board review and acknowledgment the board of directors reviews the conflict of interest policy annually as part of its governance procedures. During this review, any necessary updates are made to ensure alignment with best practices, legal requirements, and the foundations operational needs. Board members and key staff are required to sign an acknowledgment form each year, affirming their understanding and agreement to comply with the policy. 2. Disclosure and documentation all board members, executives, and key decision-makers must complete a conflict of interest disclosure form annually, listing any affiliations, business interests, or relationships that could pose a potential conflict. If a potential conflict arises, the board member or staff involved must disclose it immediately and abstain from decision-making on related matters. These disclosures are kept on record and reviewed as part of board meeting minutes to ensure accountability. 3. Oversight and enforcement a designated board committee or officer (e.g.,governance or ethics committee) is responsible for monitoring compliance and investigating any concerns related to conflicts of interest. If a conflict is identified, the board determines the appropriate course of action, which may include recusal from specific decisions, divestment from conflicting interests, or, in severe cases, removal from the board or staff position. Meeting minutes document all discussions and resolutions related to potential conflicts, ensuring transparency and accountability. By implementing these structured review, disclosure, and enforcement mechanisms, combat recovery foundation maintains the integrity of its leadership and ensures that decisions always align with the organizations mission and the best interests of the veterans we serve.”

“In 2024, combat recovery foundation successfully launched the backcountry sawyers project, a pioneering initiative that engages veterans in wildfire mitigation and recovery efforts. This program provided veterans with meaningful, purpose-driven work while contributing to wildfire prevention and land restoration in colorados backcountry. Key achievements: assembled and deployed veteran-led teams to conduct wildfire mitigation, tree removal, and backcountry recovery work, improving safety and reducing fire risk. Engaged approximately 35 veterans in hands-on conservation efforts, offering them a renewed sense of purpose, camaraderie, and practical skills in chainsaw operation and land management. Utilized a pack team of six dogs, four goats, and five horses to support backcountry logistics, reinforcing the connection between veterans, animals, and nature in the recovery process. Partnered with local agencies and landowners to enhance wildfire prevention efforts, demonstrating the effectiveness of veteran-led conservation work. Produced a publicly available documentary showcasing the programs impact and providing a blueprint for other organizations interested in launching similar initiatives to support veterans in conservation and wildfire recovery efforts. This year marked a major milestone for combat recovery foundation, proving that veteran-led backcountry work is a powerful tool for both environmental stewardship and veteran reintegration. By sharing our successes, we hope to inspire and equip others to implement similar programs, ensuring that more veterans find healing and purpose through service.”

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 0 | THROUGH STRUCTURED PROGRAMS, WE CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR VETERANS TO TRANSFORM THEIR EXPERIENCES INTO STRENGTHS, REINFORCING THAT THEY ARE NOT ALONE AND THAT THEIR SKILLS REMAIN VALUABLE IN CIVILIAN LIFE. BY PARTNERING WITH PRIVATE LANDOWNERS, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, AND CONSERVATION ORGANIZATIONS, WE ENSURE THAT VETERANS NOT ONLY RECEIVE SUPPORT BUT ALSO GIVE BACK IN A WAY THAT ENHANCES THEIR SENSE OF IDENTITY AND MISSION. |
| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 1 | IN 2024, COMBAT RECOVERY FOUNDATION SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED THE BACKCOUNTRY SAWYERS PROJECT, A PIONEERING INITIATIVE THAT ENGAGES VETERANS IN WILDFIRE MITIGATION AND RECOVERY EFFORTS. BY SHARING OUR SUCCESSES, WE HOPE TO INSPIRE AND EQUIP OTHERS TO IMPLEMENT SIMILAR PROGRAMS, ENSURING THAT MORE VETERANS FIND HEALING AND PURPOSE THROUGH SERVICE. |

| IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt | 3 | COMBAT RECOVERY FOUNDATION UPHOLDS THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY IN ITS OPERATIONS, ENSURING THAT ALL DECISIONS ARE MADE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF THE ORGANIZATION AND THE VETERANS IT SERVES. BY IMPLEMENTING THESE STRUCTURED REVIEW, DISCLOSURE, AND ENFORCEMENT MECHANISMS, COMBAT RECOVERY FOUNDATION MAINTAINS THE INTEGRITY OF ITS LEADERSHIP AND ENSURES THAT DECISIONS ALWAYS ALIGN WITH THE ORGANIZATIONS MISSION AND THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE VETERANS WE SERVE. |
