Mission and Program Overview

Mission

The mission of Bright Schoolhouse is to operate a Kindergarten through fifth grade microschool for up to 30 students. However, over the course of 2025 it was recognized that this concept was not going to work as originally planned and the market would not support it. We are in the process of winding-up the operations of Bright Schoolhouse and we will be permanently closing down in the first half of 2026. Most wind-up tasks have already been completed as of March 10, 2026.

The primary exempt purpose of Bright Schoolhouse is the operation of a school. More specifically, the school is a micro-school that serves up to 30 children from Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Bright Schoolhouse is currently in the build-out phase of school opening. Classes will begin in September 2025. Our largest accomplishment is the completion of construction of tenant improvements at our location. Eventually all enrolled students (up to 30) will benefit from this, as a built-out space is required to operate a school.$0$166,152
Our third largest accomplishment is the full stocking of the completed space with furniture, fixtures, equipment, books, general school supplies, etc. Eventually all enrolled students (up to 30) will benefit from this, as a fully stocked space is required to operate a school.$0$20,651
Our second largest accomplishment is the enrollment of four children who will be starting school at Bright Schoolhouse in September 2025. We will likely have numerous other students as well, but we currently have signed contracts for four.$0$816

ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0This is an amendment to a timely filed 2024 Form 990EZ. The reason for the amendment is our original 990EZ filing did not properly classify leasehold improvements and FF&E on the balance sheet. The end of year Line 22 has changed from $219,242 to $16,149, as $191,134 in leasehold improvements and $11,959 in FF&E were removed. The end of year Line 23 has changed from zero to $191,134 to reflect leasehold improvements. The end of year Line 24 has changed from zero to $11,959 to reflect FF&E. The net assets remain the same, only the categorization has been amended.
