“Conduit dance inc. Is dedicated to the advancement of contemporary dance through programs that encourage the creation, production and public performance of new work. Conduit serves professionals and students by providing important resources for dance artists, and consistent, current training opportunities of the highest quality often collaborating with dance organizations regionally and nationally. Through our unique venue, we provide a vital performance forum for the community to experience compelling and original contemporary dance work.”

“Conduit dance program accomplishments 2014/15 conduit lost its space of nearly 20 years in march 2015. From march - august 2015 conduit continued its programs through a conduit mobile initiative which hosted classes and workshops at sites throughout the city. Work space program artist members continued to use space for rehearsals and auditions on a limited availability basis due to shifting location. Education program we maintained rigorous training for dance professionals, students, and hobbyists with a curated weekly schedule in many iterations throughout the year. A dynamic range of accomplished and emerging dance educators, including gregg bielemeier, ron amit, michael garber, linda k. Johnson, eliza larson, tere mathern, jen hackworth. Workshops included: a high-frequency gaga method intensive in august with ron amit; welcomed back favorite teachers including seattle's shannon stewart and legendary ann cooper albright. We hosted master classes in continued partnership with white bird dance, providing students with opportunities to study with visiting international artists including russell maliphant (london) and yossi berg and oded graf dance theatre (israel) performance & presenting program our 4th annual dance+ convened artists from portland, san diego, boise, and boston. Choreographers and dancers, composers, costumers, set designers, filmmakers, and musicians converged to manifest the 4th incarnation of portland's only fully-funded, regional contemporary dance festival presented at reed college. In addition to allocating funds from conduit's robert rauschenberg seed grant to support space grants for dance+ artists, generous support came from the autzen foundation, the oregon community foundation and the regional arts & culture council.
