“VFI discusses conflict of interest policies during the following events on an annual basis: Annual Staff Retreat in January of each year; Mid-year Retreat in June each year; Annual Board of Trustees meeting each year, usually in the US but occasionally in Laos. In addition, the VFI country management team (made up of the ED, 2 Program Coordinators, and the Finance and Administration Coordinator) meet with specific program service teams and with the entire staff when and if additional discussions or trainings are deemed necessary.”

“The VFI Board of Trustees sets the compensation package of the Executive Director, the only non-Lao employee of Village Focus International. The compensation is limited to a salary payment, which is consistent with other ED positons of comparable non-governmental organizations in Laos. This is easily known, since several BoT members have worked in Laos, and the Lao INGO Network regularly conducts salary surveys. In regard to key employees, VFI's ED determines salary payments based on experience, skill and other criteria, as well as comparisons to other senior employees at comparable organizations.”
