Emerging technologies:neea scans the market for energy efficiency opportunities and drives acceptance and availability of promising emerging technologies. Over the years, neea has helped bring many new technologies into the northwest market including compact fluorescent light bulbs (cfls), energy-efficient clothes washers, super-efficient windows and premium efficiency motors. Some key results stemming from neea's investment are: -conducted in-home performance-testing of northern climate approved heat pump water heaters and coordinated a regional 'market test' including contractor and installer training and a retail collaboration with sears. -completed luminaire-level lighting controls feasibility study to research commercial applications of advanced lighting controls. Results indicate savings of 30-50% above traditional lighting. -held demonstration events at farms in eastern oregon and washington to showcase advanced energy-efficient irrigation techniques. -partnered with utilities in oregon, idaho and washington to develop a comprehensive regional commercial lighting strategy. -completed visual performance study of led streetlights with controls. Results will support the development of national standards for leds on all arterial roadways.

Activity 3

Stakeholder services:stakeholder services comprises three departments: evaluation and market research; partner services; and, corporate communications. The goals of neea's stakeholder services department are to improve relationships with, and advance regional collaboration, among stakeholders.some key results stemming from neea's investment are: -released report on energy-use in single family homes based on neea's 1,400-home study of northwest residential building stock characteristics. Results will inform regional energy efficiency program planning efforts and neea's future emerging technology activities. -published over twenty third-party market research and evaluation reports to continuously validate and improve upon market transformation work. -delivered third annual efficiency connections northwest conference to facilitate regional collaboration on energy efficiency opportunities and share success stories and best practices. -organized fourth annual northwest industrial energy efficiency conference bringing together industrial energy efficiency practitioners to share best-practices and tools for strategic energy management.
